NF-8108-m [Network cable tester c/w 8 test nodes]
Network cable tester c/w 8 far end test nodes. This tester has just arrived and I have only tested it on a few cables. Here is a quick overview. The tester is easy to use. The tester can test up to 8 cables at a time as it has 8 test nodes. The tester will let you know if the cable has been terminated correctly/cable intact by giving you visual confirmation of each of the eight cable cores on a display. It can also visually tell you if there is an issue with any core with the first 10% or last 10% of the cable (ie. probably the RJ45 termination plug) or the middle 80% (probably the cable rather than a RJ45 plug). It can reasonably accurately I reckon measure the length of the cable itself by giving a measurement on each of the cable pairs. Finally the display gives you the 'node' number (1, 2 ,3 - 8) of the cable that it is connected to. NOTE: as indicated this unit should not be used on energised cables (ie. from a POE switch, other apparatus, etc) at this will cause damage. As long as I ensure 'I' don't blow it up I reckon it will last. Given the price £44.56 on 13th June 2020 I reckon that this is great value given the potential time saving (running back and forth from cable ends) and ability that this tool has on a networking or cctv cabling job. The pouch it comes in is not great however the unit and test nodes do the job. I will probably replace the pouch with something better in order to protect the unit.

Good little tester.
Can't fault this for the price, just completed a job where the cabinet was on the floor above, used all 8 remotes and saved me running up and down the stairs. Easy to use, with options on testing. The only thing I would say is that the plastic casing may not stand the test of time, I also replaced the supplied carry bag with one of my own that gives it some protection.
