Does it hold a battery? What type of battery does it use?

Does the true buffer works also for active bass with on board preamp?

The onboard buffer works regardless of the instrument plugged in to the tuner. With a bass with onboard active electronics you don't need a buffer, but it won't hurt anything to have it in line.

Can this tune 10 notes lower than standard bass tuning? I need it to hit a low F#. 5 notes below a B.

Low B is the lowest I’ve gone and it works great.
