Everbuild 406 Quick Drying Stabilising Solution – Clear – 5 Litre
Everbuild 406 Quick Drying Stabilising Solution – Clear – 5 Litre As a DIY enthusiast, I often tackle projects that require a solid foundation, and the Everbuild 406 Stabilising Solution has been indispensable. Here’s a comprehensive look at its performance: Product Overview The Everbuild 406 is a high-performance surface treatment designed to stabilize porous and friable surfaces. Its specially formulated, microscopically fine polymer emulsion penetrates deeply into dusty, chalky, and weathered surfaces, creating a stable base for subsequent decoration with paint, wallpaper, or tiling. Suitable for both interior and exterior use, it’s ideal for plaster, rendering, pebbledash, stucco, existing painted surfaces, brickwork, and blockwork. Application & Performance • Ease of Use: Applying the solution was straightforward. I used a standard paintbrush to apply a liberal coat. For extremely porous surfaces, a second coat was necessary once the first dried. The drying time was approximately 2-4 hours, depending on temperature and humidity. • Coverage: The 5-litre container provided ample solution for my project, covering approximately 25-50 square meters, depending on surface porosity. • Finish: The solution dries clear, leaving no noticeable residue, which is perfect for surfaces that will be painted or tiled over. Effectiveness I applied the stabiliser to a weathered brick wall that had been previously painted. After preparation, I applied the stabilising solution, and the difference was remarkable. The surface felt more solid and ready for painting. Subsequent paint application adhered better, and the finish was more uniform. Considerations • Packaging: One reviewer mentioned receiving a leaking container. However, my product arrived intact, and I had no issues with packaging. • Application Tips: Ensure the surface is clean and free from loose particles before application. For extremely porous surfaces, a second coat may be necessary. Final Thoughts The Everbuild 406 Quick Drying Stabilising Solution is a reliable and effective product for preparing surfaces before decoration. Its ease of use, clear finish, and impressive performance make it a top choice for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts. I highly recommend it for anyone looking to stabilize and prepare surfaces for painting or tiling.

ABSOLUTE FANTASTIC STUFF
Absolute fantastic stuff. Had different issues with efflorescence and chalky residues for years on numerous internal walls in my rented property. This stuff has absolutely killed both problems in an instant. I used 2 coats of stabilising solution (just to be sure as I am a bit OCD) but to be honest it’s worth doing for that extra piece of mind. If you got a large area to do, get a bucket, a large 3” paint brush (any old brush will do, no need for anything fancy) and simply brush it on the affected area on the wall. No need to be fussy, apply it quick and should only take a few minutes to do a large area. You will see it will leave a shiny coating so you can see what you have done as it is a clear solution but this is normal. Leave for a few hours and reapply. I then apply a Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer Sealer paint again using the same method as the stabilising solution by using a paint brush to apply to the walls. Finally roller on your normal emulsion paint on the walls as normal. That’s it job done. If in any doubt to it’s effectiveness, just rub your hand over the problem area before you apply the stabilising solution and see what comes off (all the cr@p!). After you applied it, then see what comes off. You should have nothing at all so you know it has done it’s job. I have used this on internal walls but I would also feel very confident on external walls too. I know trades people have been using this stuff for years and I can see why😉 Best of luck and hope this helps.

Great product well worth the money
i have always used pva in the past but times change so used this to waterproof the ply covering and woodwork in a refurbished bathroom whilst the bathroom was in use - DIY job so takes a bit longer as always This product completely sealed all the woodwork and has proved a very good base for the fitting of self adhesive floor tiles

Does a great job of sealing new mortar pointing or as a base liquid for brick tinting solution.
I've been repairing and enhancing 50 year old facing brickwork around the exterior of my house lately and have raked out and re-pointed about 30% of the mortar, re-faced a dozen or so bricks due to spalling, tinted several hundred bricks by hand and re-coloured about 300 linear meters of pointing. I've used this stabilising solution for two separate purposes; sealing the new mortar pointing before colouring and as a base liquid for the brick tinting solution. As a mortar sealer it's been great and provides an excellent level of stability for friable, porous surfaces. It doesn't change the colour of the mortar and is very quick to dry. It did a particularly good job as a base solution for mortar tint. I make my own using this solution and a combination of red and brown liquid mortar dye and paint it on with a brush, using two different tones to achieve a semi-realistic effect. The stabilising solution base ensures that it soaks into the bricks very well, isn't prone to running and provides a more durable finish than if water was used as the base. The price is excellent too and despite the large area I've covered, I used a lot less than anticipated so it's been a very economical purchase. Well recommended.

EASY TO USE
USED to bond a rendered old wall that had masonry paint coming off---seemed to work on the edges quite well and I hope this has given me some sort of base now to apply a fresh coat of paint on top ----- looks good so far ---have used this product before internally with no problems but I don't know how it will fair externally as the masonry paint was too much to fill and too wide for any filler that I'm aware of to stay on---will give an update in the near future to see how it has performed.
