Great addition to the camera
When I first saw camera rigs I wasn't convinced as to why you would need one. Extra weight, a bit more size and more expense. After reading a few articles I thought I'd give the SmallRig version a try. After a few weeks I don't know what I'd do without it. The ability to attach peripheral devices such as handles, monitors and panel lights and position them exactly how you want is a godsend. The rig is well built and allows access to all ports, battery and memory card slots. The only slight criticisms are that it is difficult to turn off the camera, the remote socket is slightly restricted for angled plugs (specifically for the cable supplied with the Zhiyun Crane Plus)and the extra height can cause interference with the back of certain gimbals with my GH5 but these are minor issues that can be worked around. My biggest issue is that I can't stop buying additional SmallRig accessories to add to the setup!

Fits perfectly
Works well with the Panasonic GH5. A bit fiddly to get the camera located but the frame protects the camera body well. It’s lightweight too.A small screwdriver is located in the frame and held in place magnetically for use with the fixing screws. Plenty of cold shoe slots to fit accessories.Works well.

Well Designed GH5 Cage
This a well designed and versatile cage for the GH5, and fantastic value for money. It provides full access to all the cameras functions and almost unlimited potential for mounting various devices such as monitor/recorders, mics, lights, etc. My rig is fitted with the SmallRig 1984 Adjustable Camera Top Handle, SmallRig 1497 Articulating Magic Arm ( 7" ) and a Camvate Wood Wooden Handle Grip.In the photos you can see my complete setup with an Atomos Ninja Inferno mounted on the articulating arm, a Rode Videomic Pro (which can also be mounted on the end of the top handle to increase separation from the Inferno's fan) and the wooden side handle. I've just ordered a handle for the right side for a better grip with the weight of the Inferno. Although it's quite heavy the setup is well balanced and easy to hand hold or use on a tripod. For the money this cage is hard to beat, in fact I'd say it's better than some of the more expensive brands out there. Delivery was quick and the seller (CoolFoto Store) has just about all the Smallrig accessories available in the UK. If you're looking for a cage for your GH5 then look no further, as a pro film maker I can wholeheartedly recommend it!

Great Anti-Twist design - limited otherwise
Compared to the Tilta GH5 cage - with its built in support for the HDMI port and extended frame mount over the horse shoe - Its a little lacking in features. However it does trump the Tilta with the 3 point mounting it proposes - which will stop any twisting in the cage itself. I'm personally not sure how common that is and how difficult it is to deal with yet - but im sure its a big enough problem for most for this cage to exist in the first place.Great design - totally worth it if your looking for a cheap cage with no accessories!

The best camera cage yet!
This is far from those generic cages that simply secure to the tripod mount point. No, this additionally secures to the mounting holes where the camera strap would go. All access ports on the camera are possible with no obstruction. If you have a GH5 or GH5M2 with the intention of filming, then this is a must-have to get you started on the slippery slope to kitting it out - the cost of living crisis is self inflicted with what I have accessorised so far!!The mounting points are many and varied and support the huge ecosystem of parts from SmallRig; top handles, cable grips, lens mounts (personally used in combination with a Viltrox Speed Booster), extra cold shoes for microphones or lighting, the list is endless and starts with buying this cage.As someone who cannot find a GH4 cage for love nor money, buy this while you can.

Small Rig GH%
The SmallRig Cage has converted the GH5 into a much more functional video camera, in retrospect I would buy the Handle with a record start/stop button and cable rather than the non record button handle. You do need to work out what accessories you need, maybe a cheese plate would have been handy, but as it stands I can attach a mic to a cold shoe and have a fairly balanced camera for low level work. with the rig its easy to attach the camera to cranes etc. So yes I can recommend the Small Rig Cage for the Panasonic GH5 for video work.

Very great addition to my GH5
Ergonomic, solid, and very practical. At one point my GH5 fell off the side of my hotel bed, and while I can't say for certain it was this cage that encased it that protected it, my GH5 continued to work perfectly afterwards. Easily allows for camera accessories to be attached. A worthwhile investment for your camera kit.

Increases flexibility and potential of an already great camera
A well-made unit that fits the camera like a glove and provides a sturdy support for all manner of items. I use mine with additional Smallrig kit to support a Ninja V monitor and Rode microphone. An additional handle provides comfortable two-handed support which aids stability and leaves all the controls within easy reach. Only slight problem is that cage renders strap lugs difficult to access, but otherwise excellent.
