My original external drive was intermittently disconnecting and I found that it was the cable that needed replacement. Order this and the drive works.

I was looking for a USB C cable so I didn't have to use an adapter to my smartphone and laptop.The short size (1ft) is portable enough for me to carry around with the external HD.It's cheap at $6.I can't attest the speed but transfer was fast. I think the 3.1 speed works.I was having problems connecting to my smartphone but with this cable, it worked the first time.Everything is great. The only downside is that the cable is thicker than usual but for such short cable, you shouldn't be concerned. It looks sturdy but I wouldn't pull and twist much to test it.

Cable was a replacement for an original equipment cable that was failing. Perfect fit. Great quality of materials. Seems to allow much faster data transfer than even original cable did! Will get more as other cables show their age.
