Impressively quiet mics. Ended up with two for stereo recording.
Initially bought one of these for recording acoustic guitar. Was immediately struck by how quiet it was compared to my other "entry level" mics; no self-noise appearing until you crank the gain up past 90%, even then it's still quiet. Sound is great, and depending on the distance from your source you can get everything from intimate & direct through to big and roomy sounds - all captured faithfully. It also works well for recording loud guitar amps. I've tested it side-by-side with a condenser mic (CM25 MkIII) and there's no discernible difference in tone. The pad switch seems handy, but haven't had to use it yet. Was curious about stereo recording, so bought a set of matched RØDE M5s, but those were comparatively pretty noisy & tinny, so returned them and bought a second P170. Even though they're not 'matched' there's no obvious difference in output or tone (bought 5 months apart) - and they work fantastically on a stereo bar in standard stereo configurations. They're very slim, quite long, and feel quite sturdy and high-quality. The mount provided fits well, but you could probably knock it out accidentally with little force. Overall, very impressed with these mics.

Bright and clear sounding
This lightweight and well constructed condenser microphone was a nice choice as a discord microphone, when I moved away from a headset with a microphone. It is clear and bright, and has a great pickup from 2 feet away, using a large wind shield on a broadcaster arm. Would make a perfect addition to any studio, or in my case, a good premium choice for an XLR communication microphone.

Decent Microphones!
Really decent microphones. I used them as Drum overheads. They also come with nice microphone clips. Good sound quality, You can’t go wrong for the price. Would definitely recommend them.

Great microphone
I bought this mic to use it as an overhead microphone to record gongs. It picks up the sound wonderfully and its sound is very clear! In fact it’s so sensitive I tried it near the gong and it kept on clipping even with the gain turned to almost “0” so I wouldn’t recommend it for that purpouse but it is definetely a perfect mic for recording other sound healing instruments.

Internal earthing problems. Avoid.
Bought one but it had a horrific earth buzz problem which became louder as your hand approached and incredibly loud when the pad switch was touched. Returned it and got another with the exact same issue. Bad batch maybe? I have used condenser mics for decades and the mics were checked on two different systems so the mics were definitely the problem, not any other earthing issues with my mixer or interface etc. Hopes this helps others.

For the money, mustn't grumble
This microphone was recommended to me by someone on my Sound engineering course for recording acoustic guitar. I have to say this has been a good buy. I might at some point in the future buy another.

Great for picking ip fine details, especially from instruments. Note that it's a condenser microphone, so it won't work if the amp/audio interface that it's plugged into does not supply phantom power. Connects with a female XLR cable end. Make sure your amp that you intend to use it with has an XLR socket that supplies phantom power. If routing through an audio interface/mixer, the device should connect via an XLR socket and must have the ability to supply phantom power to the mic.
