It's one of the hardest and most dangerous trials Sonic has ever faced. The all-powerful Enerjak has returned, and in a matter of minutes reshapes the face of Angel Island in his chaos-fueled fury! Who is hiding behind the golden mask--one of Sonic's oldest friends?! It's all-out war as Shadow the Hedgehog, the Chaotix, Dr. Eggman's Egg Fleet, the Destructix and more pile on in the fray to stop a god and save the world! Knuckles' life hangs in the balance, and not everyone will walk away from this one! Review: It's like Goku vs Superman, but with animals! - Sonic Saga #5 collects the 'Enerjak: Reborn' storyline from the series. The art is superb, as Tracy Yardley always is and the writing is also very good, as Ian Flynn's writing tends to be. This storyline involves the evil Echidna (I'll explain the whole Echidna thing further down) Dr Finitevus, a moral nihilist and probably one of the most interesting villains in the series, reviving the ancient Enerjak to 'cleanse the world in emerald fire'. The tale itself is a simple one, a superpowered being ends up fighting another superpowered being (guess which one ;) ), but that's just the surface of it, as it deals with consequences of science and father-son relationships. One thing that is vastly different about the Archieverse and the games' universe is that the Echidna race isn't extinct and, because a certain former writer had a liking for him, Knuckles was genetic engineered to be amazing (which will be detailed in the next two 'Sonic Archives'). Although I'm not particularly happy that this story basically decimates the Echidnas to make it closer to the games' canon, what it does do and does do very well is deal with said genetic engineering and its consequences, which was fun to read. My only real dig is that the book is very stop-start, with one half of a chapter being action and the other half being somewhat clunky exposition, though this is mostly like because the chapters in the chronological order of the issues released. Aside from that an awesome story and easily the best Sonic Saga book so far. Review: Ah not him! - Now this is a good read and for any fan of the comic or if you have a passing interest its very......interesting.

Pretty AWESOME
It was definitely one of the coolest Sonic books. I waited a LONG time for it to come out, but loved the book. And by the way, one of Sonic's dearest friends and rival is the villain. I can't wait for the next book to come out, because the end of this book leaves you yearning for more awesomeness.

I love the storyline and I would of given this a 5 star rating but for some really odd reason issue #180 is not included in the graphic novel. The original story was from issue #180-#184. I have no idea why Archie would not include the issue, was it cheaper to reprint four issues instead of five? I can't imagine it being that much of a difference in price. Unfortunately without #180 the graphic novel does feel incomplete and doesn't really feel like it has a beginning. But overall its still readable and its still one of the best storylines from the Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog comics.
