Lovebirds (Complete Pet Owner's Manual)

A very helpful book
I took a very instinctive decision to purchase a pair of lovebirds, then realised that I actually knew very little about them and how to look after them. I quickly bought a couple of books to fill the gap in my knowledge. The contents page looks like this:Before You Buy 5Equipment 9Your Lovebird's Diet 17Bringing Your Lovebird Home 25Living with Lovebirds 33Lovebird Species 41Safety 53Health 61Breeding Lovebirds 73Understanding Your Lovebird's Body Language 85Information 92This book undoubtedly covers all of the basics of what you need to know in order to look after lovebirds. There are a handful of key facts highlighted with a green box throughout the book, which is good. This is particularly useful when it comes to which foods and plants to keep your lovebird away from, notably avocado. There are also some good diagrams regarding things like breeding and wing clipping. Having successfully looked after my lovebirds for a while now, I would say that this book tells you pretty much everything you need to know.I also bought The Lovebird Handbook (Pet Handbooks) at the same time, which is published by the same company (Barron's) with a different author. I can't give this Lovebirds (Complete Pet Owner's Manual) less than five stars because it is extremely good and quite comprehensive, but the other book, The Lovebird Handbook (Pet Handbooks) , has more pages (135 as opposed to 95) and covers some things in more detail, particularly when it comes to diseases than can afflict lovebirds and how to spot and deal with them. If you are buying one book or the other, I would go for The Lovebird Handbook, but this one does the job perfectly well.

Good informative book
This is a really good informative book for anyone who is thinking of, or has just become a new owner of pet lovebirds. I moved into my first flat of my own and wanted some type of pet bird as have always liked them and wanted a bird but never had the opportunity to have one. I decided on lovebirds purely because I think they are so cute and look beautiful! I didn't really know much else about them though so I purchased this book before buying them. It's taught me everything I need to know and as a result I have a couple of very happy and healthy lovebirds that are a pleasure to keep! This book is exactly what I needed!

Excellent book, packed with good information
This book is absolutely full of very helpful information for both current lovebird owners or anyone thinking about buying one. The information is well structured and concise, and I found myself often referring back to it when I thought of some query I had about lovebirds. It's a sturdy book too, with good illustrations. The book seems intended as a condensed practical guide, and so is not a long book. But I think this is a plus. It's well worth buying for the price.

Great Little Book
This is a great little book for those either researching or starting out in keeping lovebirds. Lot's of easy to understand advice supplemented with good quality colour photo's.Anyone buying this book should note that spinich and parsley should not be given to lovebirds - to much oxalic acid that hinders how calcium is absorbed.

Love the photos
The book was as described. Love the photos. I had a pair of peach-faced lovebirds from the late 1970s to the late 1980s and I wish I had this book then. Much of the information was familiar but some of it was new to me and worth knowing.Thanks.Volker
