Beauty and the Beast - The Complete Series [DVD] [1987]

The media could not be loaded. I'm one of those women that love supernatraul horror and action movies. This series is one of those series that time has forgotten which is so sad. My 20 year old daughter asked me what was my favorite tv I loved watching when growing up and 1st thing I told her was beauty and the beast series as she thought I ment the Disney version at 1st and when I told her about this series and loved it the series was my early teen years and living in uk back then you never heard of tv series. As reaching adult hood I forgot all about the beauty and the beast and didn't knew it was out on dvd boxset until I went looking on amazon and found it straight away and had to purchase it not so I can relive my teenage years but to show and watch with my daughter. The dvd set and box is stunning it's defiantly been remasterd as picture quality is just as stunning as if I was watching back in the 80s. If you are or not a romantic and all mushy or not or just want something new to watch or relive the 80s then you will not regret purchasing this stunning series. I told my daughter this tv series inspired the Disney movie as has little snipits like beast rose and Bell nearly attacked buy wolfs and so much more but don't want to spoil it for new viewers. As I tried to hold my camera still and don't do the tv picture any good on my mobile and don't do it much justice but you need to take a chance as you will not be disappointed.❤❤❤

Having loved the story since I was a chid, I watched most of this series when it first aired, how many years ago? OMG! I was most certainly not disappointed. Was the third season not shown in UK? I don't remember any of the descriptions of the episodes. I bought the full boxed set last week so not finished watching yet, but as soon as I saw it was due out my name was first on the list! The visual style is very of its time, a little grainy, but that just seemed to enhance the mood for me. It has everything that a Totally Incurable Romantic can possibly want, and plenty for the rest of you. One tiny teeny little complaint, which I still often have with most American series is that the actors who are supposed to be from other countries, such as Ireland, sound so false. Oh and can you believe we women once wore shoulder pads like that! I don't much care what else Ron Perlman has been in since, he will always be Vincent to me. I so loved his voice reciting Shakespeare, Wordsworth, and my favourite, Rilke. Each time I have watched it, I have slept like a baby with the most wonderful dreams. Why, oh why, are there no series to match that today? No gratuitous sex, and any violence is not full on blood and gore all over the screen. Perlemans rendering of the pain, despair, Love, and pent up desire within the relationshuip is to be applauded. I feel every emotion. I especially love the small looks he and Katherine exchange, tiny, insignificant, but filled with such powerful emotion. Oh, I'm going to cry!!! I don't really know if I want to watch the final series, It will break my heart I know. Maybe I will just keep watching the first two!! Buy it now if you are a Romantic. But, if you are a cynic, then Heaven help you for never knowing these feelings! BUY BUY BUY!!!

I have searched long and hard for this series on DVD. Search Over...I treated the arrival with the reverence the series deserved. And took on the mantle like an old friend.Each episode was a wonderful journey for me personally. Like stepping back into my youth and shrugging off the mantles of cynicism and scepticism, and embracing the romanticism and pure joy of a great imagination.I think that I read somewhere that Ron Perlman (Vincent), said that he had the face for the part. Well Mr Perlman, I've been a fan ever since.A great series, much loved and truly inspirational.So I have now completed my youthful journey... and I have to ask... did we in the UK ever have Season 3? I definitely do not think so...With the sadness of episodes 1 & 2 "Though Lovers be Lost", I was compelled to see Vincents journey through.Although I have been a fan from the very beginning I have to say that for me, Season 3 was the best. And as I traversed this wonderful series, the dawning realization for me was that it ended exactly where it should have.I only have one slight niggle, Episodes 8 & 9 are in the wrong order on the DVD. That being said, this box set will always have pride of place in my collection.All praise to a wonderful set of actors, writers, producers and each and everyone who contributed.

So glad the american series has been preserved on dvd, i taped all the series onto video tapes 12 in all i think but with buying the dvd all the episodes are calibrated in one boxed set. So glad i bought this the quality of the film is good and they come in order of each of the series.A beautiful love story against all odds great performances from Ron Perlman as the beast " Vincent " and Linda Hamilton as his lover " Katherine Chandler ". Roy Dotrice plays " Father " of the underground community, actually there are quite a few famous faces you would recognise today.The stories are varied the theme is continued throughout the series until towards and the end when Vincent is captured but finally breaks out from his cage only to find his beloved Katherine shot down in cold blood. There is little solace though when Vincent finds his love child and seeks revenge. What a great love story that could never be this series is fantastic entertainment, i would buy this while it is still obtainable the dvds are pal region 2.Poppy's verdict; One of the greatest fictional love stories ever told once you start to watch this you will be hooked, there are touching performances from all actors all against adversity, consider its purchase in its favour.
