The Very Best of AC/DC: Hot as Hell - Broadcasting Live in the Bon Scott Era 1977-1979

The Best AC/DC Live Release Since If You Want Blood.
Ok let me start by saying I am a huge AC/DC fan but that said I was dubious about this release, there seem to be a glut of early live releases appearing lately and having been burnt by a couple I was going to leave this one alone also the prospective buyer needs to be aware that all these discs are available separately. I need not have feared, the quality of the sound on each disc is very good especially when you consider the time at which each show was lifted. The variety of songs is great and the period from 77 to 79 gives a chance to hear the how the songs have progressed over the years. Also hearing songs like She's Got Balls and Baby Please Don't Go performed live is awesome. I also particularly like disc two which is recorded inbetween the releases of Let There Be Rock and Powerage so we get to hear Kicked In the Teeth and Up To My Neck In You performed before the actual album release and Bon sings slightly different lyrics and they are arranged slightly differently. So to sum up excellent all round release from DC when they were fast becoming the world's top heavy metal act.I am going to add a bit more info as I have now played this through several times. Discs one and Three are radio broadcasts and apart from the DJ announcing that you are listening to AC/DC live from wherever between songs once on each disc (How would you not know that) the sound quality is very good.Disc Two is not quite so good in sound quality but still very listenable I think that this is because of the devices used for recording live sets back then, it hasn't been fiddled with in a studio so it is as raw (if not just a little tinny) as the day it was performed.Disc Four is by far the best the sound is excellent the song content is brilliant being is as it is from the Highway to Hell tour and at 75 minutes long it is the longest of the four sets on offer. If you thought that If You Want Blood (You've Got It) is all too short (probably due to record length restraints back in the day) then this more than makes up for it.To sum up check the concert dates in this set against any you may already have to make sure you don't double up, but if you have none of these then this is the set for you. It gets better with every play.

Great buy.
Not bad , some of the recordings are a bit unbearable , but being a fan for over 30 years , i find that just an over sight.

4 X BON SCOTT-ERA RADIO RECORDINGS
For fans of the original Bon Scott-era AC/DC, this is a dream come true. Having been starved of recordings for so long, we are now presented with four live radio shows in one box at a respectable price. The shows cover the period from 1977-79 and catch this classic incarnation of the band on great form. Scott's rasping vocals are unmistakable, the sound is heavy and the riffing is deliriously enjoyable! The sound quality is generally good, though falls short of album quality. Nevertheless, these are precious recordings which have been held back for far too long and are a veritable feast for all AC/DC fans.

Excellent!!
This is fantastic! In these embryonic years with Bon Scott at the helm, they were a raw and brilliant band oozing with energy. I found this set of 4 shows having already bought the vinyl version of Hot As Hell. This set is great value! If you enjoyed these CDs and are a vinyl junkie I strongly recommend you check out the orange flaming vinyl. Both CD & vinyl highly recommended! More please!AC/DC - Hot As Hell - Broadcasting Live 1977 - '79 [LIMITED EDITION ON FLAMING VINYL]

Not great sound quality
Not the best quality of recordings. Some of the sound is very tinny. Worth it though for the live recording of up to my neck in you!!

cheap and nasty set with terrible artwork.
This set is manufactured from CD-R's. That's right, they are not factory pressed CD's. They are so poorly burnt that my Oppo BDP-83 bluray player can't even play them. I have never had any other issues with cd-r's before. cheap and nasty set with terrible artwork. I guess you get what you pay for. Stick with the more expensive single releases of the concerts
