Brilliant take up instrument!
Great little Bb cornet! I've wanted one since I was at school and learned to play brass....40 years later, I finally own one! My only geipe is the fact it could've come with some valve oil.... thankfully, I have this already as I play other Brass instruments. To a new player though, this may be an add to purchase as I did find the valves a little sticky, when first unwrapped!. Great instrument, plays well, lovely tone....and I love the rose brass bell.

Great beginner cornet.
I decided to have a go at learning to play the cornet and after reading many reviews, purchased this one. It all seems very well made, from the instrument itself to the case that comes with it. I don't know much about brass instruments but I play quite a few other instruments and I like to think that can tell poor quality from good quality. This certainly seems good quality for a student piece. I am extremely pleased with it.

Delivery mix up but pleased in the end.
The delivery of this trumpet was a big mess. This was intended as a Christmas present so I ordered it in November to avoid any mix ups. I do not live in the UK so I knew I needed at least a few weeks. Unfortunately my careful planning was not rewarded. I was contacted after three weeks and was told the trumpet was returned as undeliverable. Unfortunately it was not under the Christmas tree for my son and I was very disappointed. After reordering immediately with expedited delivery it arrived a week later. Delivery date December 27th....... The packaging was fine. The trumpet and case were as expected according to what I had read and seen on Amazon. It was in good shape and it looks nice. The case is well crafted with two shoulder straps, cloth, valve oil and soft gloves. My son tried it right away and the first and second valves stuck and he could not play well. We oiled the valves a bit and then they played fine. The sound is nice. He is pleased with it. Let me say that he is a beginner , as such, I am content with this trumpet. I will re post in a few months to let everyone know how the trumpet is faring with regular wear.

Valves sticking
I have now been playing this cornet for a couple of days now and no matter how often I play or how much valve oil I use while playing the first and third valve stick during play and when you press them down it really is not smooth it actually sounds like there is a lot of grit or something in the chamber or the machining is not great and the valve is rubbing on the chamber very disappointed in this as i read the reviews before i bought and they were nearly all good not the trouble i have been having.

Good beginner cornet
Overall this is a good horn for the price. The metalwork (joints, etc.) is decent. The valves work very well, and the spring action is adequate -- this is where budget priced horns usually have problems. The slides all move nicely, though like most budget horns, the slide grease is thick and sticky. Just needs to be cleaned up to work well. The tone is good for a budget horn, and noticeably darker and rounder than a trumpet. The mouthpiece that comes with it is not very good. My guess, based on the stamp on the side, is that it is supposed to be a copy of a Dennis Wick 4, but whatever it is, the tone is a little bit harsh and wobbly. Amazon sells better quality DW4-clone student mouthpieces, or you can try a different size. A good student level mouthpiece costs about $15. Or try a higher end mouthpiece. Whatever you choose, you will almost certainly get better results with another mouthpiece. Keep in mind that cornet mouthpieces are not the same as trumpet mouthpieces. Minor complaints: The case I got is not as nice as the one pictured, but it's adequate. The lacquer finish seems like they missed a final polish; it had slightly cloudy areas on most of the horn. Or perhaps it was some residue from the factory. I rubbed it down carefully with a polishing cloth, which helped.
