Revitalized my all weather raincoat

Great product but with the very soft water we have in Devon I needed only half of the amount it said to use, I ended up with so many suds I had to stop the machine empty it, wring out the coat and put it back on a short wash without any detergent solution. It would be handy if there was a note on the product regarding super soft water. Outcome is that the coat is super clean and when out in the rain the water was running off in globules just as it should. Overall a very good product.

I have been using Tech Wash for years and years. It is brilliant. The problem with waterproofs and breathable clothing is that the fabric softeners and additives in detergent block the holes in breathable clothing. Enter Tech Wash. It is a very effective detergent that removes heavy ingrained dirt, mud etc on outdoor clothing and does not affect the breathability of the clothing. After a few washes, when I notice the rain does not bead on the waterproof clothing I use the Nikwax Wash in Waterproofer. As a tip I always make sure I put the washing machine on a very hot cycle with normal detergent to clean it out, and wash out the soap and fabric softener drawer before using Tech Wash. It may not be the cheapest, but it really does care for and clean your breathable outdoor gear.

This is the only brand I will use when it comes to cleaning and protecting waterproof clothing. It's great that Amazon sells this singular whereas most places sell the twin packs of clean / protect.

Meh. Not very effective cleaning and did NOTHING to restore 'beading' of water off my Berghaus coat. I'll try the "heat treatment" (via a tumble-drier) and see if that has some effect ... but I suspect the bottom-line is that these (expensive) Gore-Tex coats are just disposable crap - they last for a season/year, and that's your lot.

Used this to wash my Gregory hiking backpack in my bathtub. Soaked for 10 minutes with warm water and this detergent. Spot cleaned with a brush and direct application. Worked great removing all but a few stains that were several years old. Pack had weeks for dirt and grime on it. and this removed 90+ % of it. Very happy with the Tech Wash.

We use this for our hiking and winter jackets every year. It does a great job getting them nice and clean and ready to be water-proofed. I love how easy it is to use and that you can just use a regular washing machine.
