I was getting annoying dropouts on MP3 files ripped from CDs, rips from this drive play perfectly, it is quite slow compared to the drive in the laptop, maybe because it's running slower the error correction has more time to spot the errors, the extra USB sockets are a nice touch, the built in cable isn't, it's to short and it's on the wrong side for me, and because it's built in, I can't replace it for one that's long enough.

Seems sturdy and works fine, albeit after a bit of a pain having to first download (free) App, as recommended by Microsoft - inbuilt apps on both my Dell and HP laptops seemed not to recognize this piece of kit, hrnce just 4 stars. Free extra 2 years on Warrantee, very promptly and courteously provided by e-mail, as mentioned by previous reviewer, a nice bonus.

There was an additional piece of wiring supplied which when used did not appear to work. When the piece of wiring already attached to the unit was used, there was no problem. I believe that the instruction booklet complicated everything and caused be to set up apps in my laptop that I did not need. In the everything was fine and is working well, even though I wasted a lot of time setting it up.

Very fast delivery. Inside the box there was a slip of paper saying that if I sent an email to the address of the supplier that they would increase the warranty by another two years. I sent the email and they replied within 24hrs. Excellent service for this day and age. I bought the product so that I could play some old CD's and DVD's on my new MacBook Air and it was great to be able to do so. I'm very happy with my newest gadget.

Compact. What else could it be really, it's for CDs/DVDs!I managed to rip just about every CD I own.Entirely for my own entertainment on a USB stick in the car.For that purpose alone, the price was well worth it.However, my freebie downloaded ripping app was a bit slow. So.. I'm not positive if it was the app or the CD drive.However, well worth your hard earned pennies.
