Works better than expected.
I purchased this to work in conjunction with a battery powered Ring solar floodlight, both of which are mounted to trees halfway down my driveway. I was worried that the sensor would not be able to serve my needs due to the distance of its placement from the bridge and also its being powered by only 3 AAA batteries. After more than a month of daily heavy use with all settings on the most power demanding option, I can report that the batteries (rechargeables) are reading 54%, the connection strength to the Ring bridge is "fair", and that the floodlight activates very quickly after motion is detected. Additionally, the senor detects motion of the type and distance that I would expect without giving me too many unnecessary alerts. Vehicles and people are detected at approximately 15 yards but it is not triggered by leaves falling etc. This product is highly recommended and may resolve any detection issues you may be having with another Ring product. I have included a screenshot from the satellite view of my property which is in a rural and heavily wooded area. The "o" denotes the location of the bridge with each "x" being the floodlight and sensor, the latter of which is farthest from the bridge.

Updated review after good support
Updated review (original review below). I was contacted by an executive Ring support person. He was very helpful and explained that the original replacement wasn't ordered for some reason. The replacement arrived a few days later. It is working well. Original review: This thing only worked for around 6 months, and then stopped working completely. During that 6 months it gave false alerts constantly for motion of shadows from clouds and the sun. Then it completely died, no motion detection at all. Called Ring support and they said they would send a replacement. That was months ago and no replacement came.

Works flawlessly
Purchased this sensor to activate outdoor lighting using Alexa but was hesitant that it wouldn't work the way I was hoping. Man was I wrong. This was the ONLY outdoor motion sensor I could find that works with Alexa and has seamless integration with other smart devices (through Alexa). Connected outdoor lights to outdoor smart plug, installed Ring bridge (req'd even with Alexa) and Ring motion sensor, and added all those smart devices to Alexa and made a routine to power the smart plug when motion is detected. Even added a condition in Alexa to only perform the routine during nighttime hours and added a second routine to power off the smart plug after 1min of no motion detected. So not only will the motion sensor trigger the lights, but I can have Alexa turn them on and off via voice command. Gotta love these smart devices! Next up is to trigger a siren when someone walks up on my deck at night!

Repeated connectivity failures, no fix available
I've now purchased three of these motion sensors. Two have failed with the identical problem: works fine for about one- two months, then silently drops offline and never reconnects. Both times, I did everything support tools suggest — pulled and reinserted batteries, waited well over 15 minutes, moved the sensor to point-blank range next to my Sidewalk bridge — nothing worked. The app even showed a specific error code (P1-62) with no real resolution. When I removed the device from the app to try re-adding it, it wouldn't be recognized at all, permanently bricking it. To make it worse, the app didn't notify me the second sensor was offline until roughly 10 days after it actually stopped working — so a device meant for home security silently failed for over a week with zero warning. I've tried reaching a live support person and haven't been able to get through. At $25/sensor, with a 2-out-of-3 failure rate and no support resolution, I can't recommend these.

Great for nighttime use. Doesn’t work well with daytime use.
I’ve had this Motion detector for several months now. I have it paired with my ring doorbell and smart floodlight. It connects fine, setup easy. Range is pretty good in direct line of sight from the bridge. My issue is the motion sensor is way to sensitive during the day. Even with the settings turned down, the shadows or so light through the trees sets it off. I have tried shielding it w a housing but haven’t had much luck yet. Also, I cannot share this device with my wife as a shared user. That feature is not available yet. She she can’t see any of the alerts on her iPhone. Also, when linked with the ring doorbell, the doorbell chime will not activate, as the camera is already recording as triggered from the motion sensor . I’d rather have both still function and hear the chime. Overall: Works great for nighttime use. However not for daytime use. I am attempting to use this with an Alexa routine to let me know when someone pulls into the driveway. But toooo many false alarms for daytime use.

Ring Motion Sensor
Works great to trigger your Ring Camera when someone or something doesn’t get up close to the camera to trigger motion detection. The only downside is that when the motion detector triggers the camera you don’t get a notification but at least you do get a video.

Smart Motion
The item does what it is supposed to, the key is taking having a Ring Bridge and some planning. I have this item tied into my Ring Low Voltage Transformer. I have it positioned around the side of my house so that when guests come around the corner to the back of my house where I have built a deck for the neighbors to hang out after dark, it lights the deck stairs. I played with the location of the sensor several times so that the step lights come on just as they round the corner usually unless they are running. I moved it around a couple of times due to the slight lag between motion and the lights coming on. So far it has been great, and at a casual stroll the timing is perfect, gotten lots of compliments on my setup.
