Compustar CS4900-S is an awesome remote start and keyless entry system!
This is the second unit I have bought and have installed on both my truck and Jeep. The system is very responsive and the remotes feel quality and work very well. Each system's installation was simple and straightforward, and the wiring in the instructions is very clear. I highly recommend!

Locks may require relays.
Used to replace a burned out bull dog system, motherboard. Installing this system was simple until the door locks portion. Prior system controlled the door locks without relays, this one not so. Vehicle installed in; 1995 dodge ram automatic 5.9 liter. Had electric door locks built in and triggered with negative current which with this unit requires two 5 pin relays. You'll be wiring two posts each to hot, one on each to vehicel existing lock and unlock wires, and to same coming from remote box. No posts go to ground. You have to test which end of the vehicles lock and unlock wire is going to the motor or coming from the switch after you cut the vehicle wires one being lock and the other unlock - you have 4 wire ends you tie into using the relay posts producing 4 wires and they need to connect to right existing lock and unlock ends and you determine the ends by using your vehicle lock switch to identify; hot = switch side, other by default is the actuator side. Then you can finish the wire connections. I went to manufacturer’s web site, training for installers and found a specific video instruction re: locks and relays-the instructor speaks the wiring pin to relay numbers arrangement. Takes notes and apply. Manufacturer sells a dual relay wiring harness or just buy two 5 pin. 4 pin won't work - 87a post is needed and 4 post doesn't provide. The rpm sensor i left in the default mode which is alternator or voltage sense instead of rpm coil sensor. Just wire sensor wire to relay hot wire source as it’s direct to battery and fused of course. As soon as it starts the rpm sensor which is intended to issue a signal back to the brains that the engine started is instead using the alternator sensor for volt signal increase. The remote will issue a confirmation tone that your vehicle didn't start so it kept the starter turning til it toasted out, caught fire and burned your vehicle to the ground....kidding of course but that could happen if there’s no signal to identify engines running, so wire that sensor, use the power relay source and fuse protect it. The burn to the ground wouldn’t happen, there’s a time out starter engagement limit so relax ladies and why are you reading this install review, he’s installing it. Lots of mod options to change attributes that you can program via remote key pad. Remote start is great, antenna pick up is great; hit the button, listen for confirmation, go back to bed for 15 or longer (programmable). If keyless is backwards as mine was it was caused by the motor wiring on one actuator is backwards. Good value, small unit, light weight, plenty of wire length, need two 5 pin relays on certain lock trigger type vehicles. Happy camper.

Easy to Install
I Installed this, Myself, Works Great!! Only issue, is when I tried to Modify All Options, using the IData Link Bypass, it would not let me Save. I contacted Compustar, and they Informed me that I should Not have been Able to Purchase, here on Amazon, and should have Purchased at a Local Dealer, and Only they can Fully Program. My Issues are Door Locks, All Open at Once. No Problem.

No instructions
Do your research! This is a great product, unfortunately they don't offer details installation instructions like other brands. Compustar is a professional installation brand not designed for DIY. If you buy this you'll also need the programmer to adjust settings or have to go to an installer for these adjustments. I spent twice as long figuring out how to wire this unit into my truck as I did actually installing it. Luckily I found a good forum with an article from a guy who documented the wiring. Would have given it 5 stars if they had instructions.

Love it!
I've had this on my 05 Silverado for a number of years now. Still no issues. The range is incredible, with line of sight I'm getting about an 1/8th mile of range to remote start my truck. Doesn't eat batteries, and being able to activate the remote start while it's running is fantastic, as you can pull up to a convenience store, hit the remote start, pull your keys out, lock the doors, run inside and your engine (and heater!) Is still running! A+!

I figured out how to program the options but don't expect Compustar to give you any help whatsoever
TLDR? Don't get a Compustar. Get a Crimestopper. Even better, get the system from MyPushCart. They provide 100000% better customer service, and their smart phone module subscription is far less expensive, and with smart phone control, who cares about the fancy features Compustar offers? The install was easy. However, their customer service is terrible, and that's what the rating is for. I wanted to change the remote start runtime but the procedure in the manual doesn't work, so I emailed Compustar. They replied that the options cannot be changed via the remote. I let them know there is a table in the manual telling you how to do it, and then they said that's for the installer and they don't want end-users to change the options because it could blow a fuse. Seriously? In the end, I figured it out after Googling. You have to follow the instructions for the 1-way remote, and you have to do it while the key is out (ignition/accessories off). Also, the subscription fee for the Omega mycar smart phone module that mypushcart sells is significantly less expensive than compustar's drone. In fact, I'm about to tear out this system from my car to install a Crimestopper unit (the brand mypushcart carries) so that I can use the mycar module. See, I'm willing to uninstall and reinstall my remote starter because of my dislike of compustar. You like their features? None of that matters when you have a smart phone module where you can start, lock/unlock your car from wherever you want. Plus, you don't have to pay double for the GPS tracking system like you have to with Drone. Compustar thinks you're too unintelligent to install. They purposely left the incorrect instructions in the manual after all these years. I suggest buying systems from mypushcart. They actually help you! And their systems come ready for your specific vehicle. Also, Omega's customer support is excellent as well. Compustar takes so long to reply that you might as well...well, I'll stop here. Don't buy a Compustar!

I stand by the compustar products. This model in particular works flawlessly in my International Durastar. It connects well with the drone, and any other compustar/idatalink system you want to throw in there. As a bonus, these units are compatible with all the IDataLink T-harnesses. So connecting to your vehicle can be an absolute breeze with the appropriate parts. ****BEFOR YOU BUY THIS**** Make sure you do some digging, check, double check, and triple check that it will work for your make and model. They have ALOT of different versions, and some are not compatible. The Compustar website will help you find a system formyour vehicle. The instructions however can be VEEEEERRRRRYYYYY confusing to folks. I'm an experienced HD field mechanic in Canada, and it was a pain to try and figure out how to rig this up with my unit. But once I got past that hurdle everything went smoothly. The recieved cable is perfectly long enough, the wires were too long for my application, but they may work perfectly for yours. I don't think you can go wrong with compustar.

Perfect quality and so functional

Install was straight forward, you can get the master guide online. Range is good. Really nice that it has the option for a Blade bypass module that just slides into the remote start module without all that extra wiring. Note+ you will need the Blade bypass for most vehicles that have an immobilizer and it needs to be flashed with the correct software.

Do not buy this remote starter if you plan to install it yourself. The product packaging lacks essential information, specifically wiring instructions or a detailed diagram. This is not a plug-and-play device. Furthermore, it requires a separate bypass module (e.g., the BLADE) which must be flashed with vehicle-specific firmware by an authorized dealer using proprietary tools. This means you are essentially forced to take the unit to a professional for programming, dramatically increasing the total cost and effort. This unit is intended for professional installation only and should not be sold directly to end-users or DIY installers. A complete waste of money and time.
