I love this spice and have used it for years. I use it in soups, stews, sauces, almost anything. I like the seeds better than the powder, I prefer to make my own Achoite oil and these are fantastic!

This product is hand packed and you can taste the care put into it. The smell and taste was so fresh and provided the kick I needed in some of my favorite recipes.

It super easy to use. Heat up oil add the amount of achiote to it . voila it was a done . With colander strain the oil into a clean glass bottle.

I ordered these without knowing what they are or what to do with them. I just saw "Mexican Recipes" in the description and assumed it was spicy so my husband would like it but I wouldn't (I'm very sensitive to spicy foods).I looked it up right after ordering, and saw that you can make food coloring, oil, and a flavorful paste if you grind it up. That's very basic info for this review, but it's more than I knew before.I'm very lucky to have a new daughter-in-law from southeastern Mexico who showed me how to use it, and helped me make some achiote paste to make puerco pibil with it. Grinding these seeds is a lot of work! She knows about my spice aversion but assured me that it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.I took a bite of the pork, and I felt the spice announce itself on my tongue, but then it retreated. Wow! Usually spicy things are a bit mild for the first few seconds and then hit me hard, but this was a much different experience. It was delicious!! Not spicy but flavorful!From what I've learned, these whole annatto seeds would be a lot easier to use to perk up olive oil rather than grinding it myself. I can (and did!) go to the grocery store to buy the pre-ground version. I don't need to get the whole seeds again.I'm very happy that I got these and learned so much, and that I can also enjoy them and not be afraid to add it to some dishes. I'm sure I've had this spice many times without knowing, as I've eaten plenty of authentic Mexican and Latin American meals in my life. Big thumbs up!

I purchased the Achiote to make a marinade for Cochinita Pibil that I want to use for tacos. I have not used it yet, but I have used other products from Amazing Chiles & Spices and have been happy with the quality and price. I would recommend them and will be purchasing from them in the future.
