Overall very positive
Purchased in July 2025, used 3 times and then system to thread welding wire stopped working. Tried to contact HITBOX about this and got no response. As things stand a complete waste of money Update: September 2026. Anne from Hitbox Customer Care Team reached out and organized for a brand new welding machine to be delivered. This was fantastic customer service and more than I had been asking for so extremely happy with this response. The machine itself is a brilliant little piece of kit and a must for the amateur or casual welder. Highly recommended.

Decent bit of kit
Great bit of kit , this was a emergency purchase , My 20 year old Sealey packed up half way though welding up my work van . Got to say really easy set up and use . Iv never welded without gas . The flux core wire is a game changer . The compact size and power it really is a decent bit of kit . Hopefully it will last . But so far so good . Donโt hesitate if you been looking at these obviously technology has moved on miles since I bought my old welder . Very happy

Far Better Welder Than The User
I've had a Clarke 90 amp MIG welder for some years. I always ran it in gassless mode with flux cored wire, which makes sense for the occasional DIYer. This thing is a massive step up! Firstly the Clarke one was a linear transformer so it was large and heavy. This device despite being more than double the power, is very lgiht and very small due to the intverter electrical machine. The cable/hose to the welding gun is lighter and more flexible so is very easy to use. It was supplied with 3 x 0.8mm tips and 3 x 1.0mm tips. It came with 0.8mm flux cored wire. The set up couldn't be simpler. I did read the manual briefly but when I switched it on, I just pushed buttons and twiddled the knob. It was immediately obvious how to set the welding mode between MIG/TIG/MMA etc. The control knob immediately shows the thickness of steel. I bought some 1.0mm wire and found you need to change the wire drive wheel to the correct groove size. When I looked at the set up screen it was set for 1.0mm wire - I'm uncertain whether it did this automatically, or I tried it the previous day using 0.8mm wire but set for 1.0mm. Either way, it's totally simple and the screen clearly shows how it's set up. As for welding with it. It strikes up and maintains a steady arc beautifully. The arc is a steady high pitched hiss with no sputtering or spitting at all. It makes it look like I know what I'm doing! I had some 50 x 50 x 3mm angle so I chopped it into a few bits with a cutting disc and set about stitching it back together. After a couple of efforts I got a really clean smooth bead. I didn't quite get full thickness penetration so I have a bit of learning to do. I have a mate who I will ask to give me some lessons. The verdict is this welder seems to my untrained abilities, to be virtually idiot proof. With practice my own skills may reach the lofty heights of idiot.

I would highly recommend it for gasless welding.
I'm only a beginner but this welder is first class. Dead easy to use, compact and lightweight. We'll worth the money. Customer support is also excellent.

Electrical safety concern, poor quality build, lacking support
The plastic shroud around the electrical components and connector block of the MIG gun is poorly constructed and just fell open, exposing live wiring behind it. The twist off end cap which is poorly secured and takes about 1/8th of a turn to remove. Which as I found can be done by just the torch cable movement over the end cap because itโs so loose. Below it are live cables. This poses an electrical hazard. These cables are joined using US style twist caps which, although not illegal in the UK, are far from best practice and designed for in wall use and on 110V circuits used in the US with lower electrocution risk. See images. The included manual for this is useless. I asked support for a better manual and they sent one. This was also useless so I asked for a better manual. They sent a near identical one. The manuals were poorly translated but make reference to switches and functions that have no corresponding diagram. So thereโs no way of following what the manual is saying or making the adjustments it references. Support is lacking. The marketing says โใThe Coolest Colourful Large LED Displayใ- The unique colour LED screen design to provide you with accurate data displayโ. Yes, if you are in a dark room. But in a well lit area the screen is quite dull. See image - you can see the amps/volts but not the colourful welding format selector. In the specifications it says โApplicable wire: 0.6/0.8/1.0.โ Itโs not supplied with a 0.6mm roller. Note too in case you miss it โ the TIG torch is not included. The machine worked for both MIG and TIG but due to the issues noted -particularly electrical safety - I returned it.

Better than expected.
I have no doubt this machine is designed for occasional use, what surprised me is how well it works on domestic mains supply. I bought it to weld 1.5mm 2mm and rusted 3mm mild steel. Any poor welds were down to me.

Anybody buying this be sure it works for your type of tank connection.
I bought this after trying another product which had the wrong fitting. Check the male female type of connection for your area regulations. My gauge is now working well. I do point out it will get condensation on the outside of the glass bead indicator. Be sure to check your level while welding the project.
