James Brown: 50th Anniversary Collection

A fantastic intro to the music of JB. Just be aware, most of these cuts are the radio edits. The originals are longer (often MUCH longer). You'll need to get the full albums for those. The impact this man had on popular music over the last 50 years is immeasurable.

Every so often, I've got to listen to James Brown. This cd has songs from various years. I put it in my cd player and crank it up.

great songs and good price

If you are a big fan of James Brown like I am, then add this CD to your music collection. You won’t be disappointed.

I've been looking for a collection of James Brown songs and was excited to see this release. Tons of tracks, tons of funk. Unfortunately, as noted in another review, many of the tracks are cut short with fades. Essentially all the tracks titled "... Pt. 1" are ended with fades. Since I'm familiar with many of these songs that should have occured to me with over twenty songs on each cd. If you want a good collection of James Brown, look no further. All the funk (!) is here and you get the gist of the songs. But if you want full versions (and some FUNKY stuff happens in there) you'll want to look elsewhere.

I was looking for a CD that provided a nice overview of James Brown's music and feel I found it. Started with track one and was happily listening until the CD hit "Night Train." Cranked the volume in the car stereo and started to boogie in my seat. It just went on from there. Thoroughly enjoyable.

What's there not to like? The Godfather of Soul will have you getting on the good foot. Let's party!!!

The sound is great! You will hear the early James Brown voice that many may not remember and then the older JamesBrown voice that most of us 60'-80's kids are used to. This makes a great gifts for those who were around in his day, and for those who are learning about him after his new "Get On Up" movie.
