Hi Hilary, The stone's measurements are indeed 16" by 14". Which means you'll have to check wether on the oven floor, you'd have the required depth (14" or more: don't forget to check how far in the oven door goes). Making AWESOME pizza is still a given this way: your oven will be a pizza oven, with an actual pizza oven floor! (...once the stone is in ;-)

I can't see anywhere on the packaging that states what the material is. It's a heavy, porous material but whether it's natural or a composite I don't know. It works though - the weight and thickness really deliver good results for baking and pizzas. It stains after use but that's not important.
