Rawlplug 4ALL-05+3530 5 mm Nylon Multi-Purpose Plug and Screw (50 pieces)

Rawlplug it's a guarantee of reliability .. and this pack it's even more convenient than local shops.

I've used the 6mm set to successfully hang a couple of small cabinets, a curtain rail, several bathroom accessories and a blind - all in solid masonry walls. I'm impressed that the blind (which is attached to the top of the window recess, meaning the fittings are constantly being pulled downwards by gravity) has stayed put securely for a couple of months so far.As somewhat of a DIY novice I'm not sure if it's common practice to use screws that are so much longer than the plugs - meaning having to drill a much longer hole than seems necessary!Edited to add: I've knocked off a star because I also bought the 8mm set to put up some shelves but the screws in this set weren't fully threaded. In fact, given that the screws are quite a lot longer than the plugs, the smooth shank of the screws goes about halfway down the plug. I've been advised that this can affect how much load the screws can safely bear. I've used them to hang a shelf so fingers crossed it stays up.

Wanted to ensure I get some genuine Rawlplug for a change so got the ones sold by AZ itself: from what I see elsewhere they are genuine.The anchors look great and are well-moulded. Assuming you drill the right size hole 8mm and vacuum all the dust they go in easily but grip well once in. While cheap anchors are plastic and seem to degrade/desintegrate in a few years - these seem to last. May be worth testing old installations if they seem unstable.The screws if anything seem way too long so ensure you drill a deep enough hole - naturally depending on the thickness of what you are installing.All in all they seem far better than what you get with - albeit cheap - TV mounts and though the screws may be thinner. If you don't want to drill massive holes in the the wall but require to hold relatively heavy loads (e.g. TV, heavy picture) they may be sufficient.

Wickes used to do a range of twice-as-strong high quality rawlplugs - no longer, and this is a replacement. It seems unnecessary, but for not much more than generic super-cheap versions, these really do feel different to work with.For people handier than me (most people) they probably have a better feel for the limitations of the cheaper ones, but it's such a small additional cost I find them well worth it.
