An excellent product.
I've not had a lot of success purchasing computer leads from Amazon. Most have been rubbish and only fit for a museum's display BUT NOT THESE. These work tremendously well and because of the fact that other Amazon leads have not, I've decided to write this review commending them.I'm sold on sSATA and wont buy a computer that doesn't have an eSATA port (which is a shame for these current day computer manufacturers, who prefer to not include them). eSATA only provides an external connection for a SATA hard drive and you can NOT connect any other device to it. Having said that, if you do use an sSATA port to connect your external SATA hard drives, you'll not have to share eSATA's either 3gb/sec or 6gb/sec transfer speed with any other SATA drive that you've connected to your computer through this port, as you have to with USB connections - eSATA does NOT daisy chain as USB does. A 3gb/sec speed is achieved if you connect the controller to a PCI expansion slot and 6gb/sec (which could even be multiplex) if you connect the controller to a PCIx expansion one.Because these ill-advised manufacturers are no longer prepared to offer these superior external connections, most Thunderbolt PCIx control cards include as well as a USB-C port, an eSATA port as standard and for this reason alone, I'd most favourably recommend you spending the extra money needed to purchase one. With USB-C speeds approaching 40gb/sec and able to connect numerous SATA hard drives with their dedicated sSATA ports, all of which CAN ONLY reach a speed of 6gb/sec - even if the transfer speed of the port was to be considerably more, has got to be the best possible choice anyone can make because, as it seems to this reviewer, adding a SATA hard drive to a USB port, when these can work through another, would be a most foolish enterprise because all you're going to do by doing this is reduce the speed the USB port can provide your other equipment.

Quality eSATA Cable from a Reputable Manufacturer
This is an excellent quality cable and in its short time of ownership it has already been used for transferring terabytes of disc files to external HDDs via eSATA port. You'll have no worries for cable length - at nearly 2m it looked a bit too long, but this may come handy someday, so this is not a complaint at all. This cable is also future-proofed when (or if) the 6 Gbps SATA III standard is ported to eSATA.This is a cable to have around if eSATA file transfer (say, for disk upgrade, external file backup, etc.) is a necessity, with its added benefits of generous length and very fast transfer rate support up to 6 Gbps.Highly recommended.

Excellent for what it's made for - terrible connectors though (only relevant for laptop users).
Item as described and it does work for transferring data. However the connectors are shite and easily disconnect from the laptop end (The External HDD doesn't move so this isn't an issue for that end). Now from what I can tell, most users use this cable in permanent locations (between desktops and storage units, so they will never have to move, but as a laptop users, I find the ease of which this cable falls out exasperating.Cannot fault cable quality or performance.

Quality cable
Bought two of these. Good connectors which firmly fit into the eSata ports. Long enough to allow me to better position my Icy Box Docking Stations and yet not too heavy to put a strain on the connectors. All-in-all a great quality cable - I'm very pleased with these purchases.

having some trouble
I think this might not work on the device i bought it for - not the cables fault ...I think. Given up now and gone back to USB. I'm using it for external HD dock and it worked once then stopped working when I re-positioned cable and device. I realize this is the max length for this type of cable so maybe I should have stuck to the 3ft cable I originally had ....which worked but was too short to use conveniently!

It works!
Transferred data fast and reliably for me. Couldn't find any truly flexible cables in this format, but this is a little more flexible than internal sata cables.

Perfect
Purchased two of the 1.8m eSATA cables for my bluray disc and eSATA external Hard Drive unit, cable are on the tight side, but this is good because they are less likely to come away, especially from the external Hard drive unit,i would buy these again

StarTech 6 feet Shielded External eSATA Cable
I bought this to replace one that was too short because of a change in PC/Desktop layout. It arrived, I connected it, it worked immediately without issue...Excellent.
