Smooth glide, bold lines, and one of the best grips I’ve used
I’ve been using these BIC Glide Bold ballpoint pens for about 2 weeks for everyday writing, journaling, and note-taking. Right away I noticed they live up to the “Glide” name — the ink flows effortlessly and makes writing feel fast and smooth. • Excellent grip – The full rubberized grip wraps the entire lower barrel, and it genuinely stays comfortable even during long writing sessions. • Super smooth ink glide – No skipping, dragging, or ink blobs. The pen tip moves easily across the page with minimal pressure needed. • Bold 1.6mm point – The lines are thick, clean, and easy to read. Great for anyone who prefers writing that stands out. What could be better: • The bold point uses ink faster than standard pens, which is normal for 1.6mm tips, but worth noting if you write a lot. Testing notes: • No smudging issues on regular paper • No hand fatigue thanks to the cushioned grip • Retractable click is smooth and reliable • Ink color is a vibrant true blue, not dull or washed out Best for: These are perfect for students, office use, planners, journaling, or anyone who likes a thicker, bolder pen that feels great in hand. If you prioritize comfort and smooth writing, this pack is a solid choice. Final Verdict: Overall, these pens are a great value, write beautifully, and feel premium for an everyday ballpoint. I’ll definitely keep them in my rotation. Hope this helps you decide!

TRUE BALL POINT PENS
I love these pens, they are real ball point (1.6mm) they're soft to touch and not heavy at all. I used them to do my letter writing and they glide perfectly smooth as you write. They don't tire my hands like other pens do. Quality is good price is good for the quality and quality. Very durable so I definitely recommend these pens if you write a lot like I do.

Smooth writing at a great price with high quality......
These are the best pens I’ve found in the past decade. I am extremely picky because I’m a lefty and a contractor that uses writing utensils on job sites from plans to wood measurements with a subcontractor to even contracts. My biggest problem for over 50 years have always been the thin tips I can break off, not get any ink from to the tip breaking entirely but once my daughter showed me these 1.6mm pens exists I haven’t been able to use anything else. I love the blue ones because I typically like a lawyer use those yellow note sheet pads to write on and it’s so much easier to see blue ink on than black ink on it. I also love it for use on official documents and signing contracts as well its a lot easier on my wrists as well. If you are a pen connoisseur like myself and don’t want to break the bank on pens that can be lost easily as many can and from my home office, the expensive messenger bag my daughter bought me (after 40 years of being mobile building with reusable plastic bags to carry paper and spilling coffee she not only got me a bag that wasn’t a briefcase because those were great for my corporate jobs but not at all in my SUV or job sites for me to reuse at all. Then over the years I’ve seen her style from high school to college, grad school for business, city volunteer politics and into Fortune 500 company job with corporate America I’ve seen her purses, lack of purses and migration to tank bags on her sport motorcycle with backpacks that held helmets then to tote bags and messenger bags that carried her purse items in it too there wasn’t a bag neither of had seen reasonable for a dirty job site that wasn’t very feminine and plain black without any print even brand names) That is until this holiday where she found me the perfect one so hopefully I won’t be losing and finding pens on an average of about 2-3 a week overall gone and having to rebuy but these Velocity 1.6mm are extremely durable as I’ve dropped a few on the ground and then stepped on them in my work boots and nothing happened to them not even a broken clip on the side. I will say I live a block away from Target, Staples, and a bunch of other places where the lowest I’ve seen these pens for a single box for was $15.99 and then last week I went to Staples needing ink where my daughter does all the stocking of my office supplies and manages all my paperwork I’m so greatful it’s been a while since being in a supply store and this same box right now is $21.99 at Staples sadly. Amazon is the Best Deal and won’t go anywhere else. Definitely worth the money, the quality and the price.

1.6 mm vs 1.4 mm BOLD Ballpoint pen
When writing fiction I go for the 7" x 10" Japanese import notebooks (Apica B5 ruled notebook, Tsubame B5 Ruled notebooks or the Kokuyo Mister notebook B5 or sometimes the more glossy Kokuyo Campus notebooks). Let's face it, for whatever reason, the nature of a notebooks writing surface matters. And the pen we choose might matter even more. But pen choices are as varied as there are tastes. Some like the extra fine ballpoint, some the fine ballpoint while others might fancy the Bold ballpoint pens. All depending on what you want -- thin or thick lined writing. Again, this goes in tandem with the nature of the writing surface which too varies from rough, hard, normal to near-glossy surfaces (like the Kokuyo notebooks). This is a pen review (for a BOLD ballpoint pen at that), so let me stay on point (pun not intended). To give the review a measured context, I'd need to stack different brand pens side by side to give anyone reading this a visual imagery of what a 1.6 mm pen looks like versus another 1.6 mm pen from the same brand but of a different model version. I also threw in a 1.4 mm ballpoint into the mix. They are: BIC Velocity 1.6 mm RT pen, BIC Atlantis 1.6 mm RT pen and a 1.4 mm Paper Mate Profile. For those not too familiar with what a BOLD 1.6 mm or a 1.4 mm means... it's the width or thickness of a the line drawn by the said pen. Same applies for 1.0 mm, 0.7 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.38 mm. The bigger the size, the wider the bore. Thus there is no way you can exclude the issue of ink blotting, bleeding, or even streaking (these do not streak). Though this is relative to the kind of paper you write on i.e. rough, smooth or gloss. I used 2 types of writing surfaces to demonstrate how the ink of the 3 brands appear (see pics). One is from a Japanese import paper MUJI Notebook (tan/beige color) the other is the bleached white of MEAD two ring business notebook. IMPRESSIONS: COLOR -- In terms of vivid BOLD blue color, I give it to the BIC brands. They are ahead of the Paper mate Profile. Not to say the PP is bad. No. It's been my go-to pen for story telling/writing up until now. FLOW -- In terms of the smoothness of writing ... it's pretty damn close. I would give Atlantis a very marginal edge over the other 2, with the Paper Mate Profile & BIC Velocity a near dead even draw. None of them skips or stutters or "scratchy feeling" when they're going. STAIN/BLEED: This is where, as I earlier mentioned lies the "curse" in the midst of the blessing. The larger the ballpoint, the more likely to blotch. Now the paper mate at 1.4 mm does not blotch. So, I give it to the PP brand on that one. But at a "huge" 1.6 mm ... something had to give (I'm sure if PP had a 1.6 mm model it would blotch too). Now, it's not as bad as it sounds. I only notice this for Atlantis and Velocity when the pen makes first contact with the paper. Once you get to scribbling along it's smooth sailing. SUGGESTION: To mitigate against this, just wipe tip with a paper towel before writing. But if this is something that'll bother you then I suggest you stick with the Paper Mate Profile.Or alternatively you go down a notch to Medium 1.0 mm or Fine 0.7 mm ballpoint pens. The Atlantis -- from my own impressions is the most blotch prone when compared to Velocity. Paper Mate Profile is the least prone and thus takes this one for the win. These are a definite recommend. But it will come down to individual needs when choosing. Like I mentioned, I included pics (please overlook the bad handwriting). Hope you found this review helpful. UPDATE: 1/22/18 I will have to knock off one star from my rating. Reason being the blotch is enough to cause some frustrations when using the pen on very smooth or glossy paper.
