Lovely rich sound with these strings - my cello teacher is also very impressed.

I'm an adult beginner, but an experienced pianist and violinist so I hope my review is useful. These strings made a huge difference in tone to my (brand new) "Stentor Student" cello, which is a very basic beginner's instrument. It came with what I reckon were the cheapest possible strings. I bought an A, a D and a G. Easier to play too, as they are easier to depress. Expensive for beginners but I was really encouraged by the sound I could make.

We have ordered 3 of these over 2 months and each time the A string keeps breaking - once even before we had played on it, we were just tuning it for the first time and it snapped. We contacted D'Addario and they have been great at listening to our concerns and responding appropriately. There was likely a faulty batch just like in all products but these things happen occasionally - they were understanding and appreciative of the information.

i've fitted student's instruments with D'Addario Prelude strings for many years. They are stable, last well and have a clear tone, with some power yet not harsh. I have even once or twice put them on my own instruments when I have needed a spare at short notice. Although budget priced they compare well tonally with other much more expensive strings for violin, viola and cello, though they are of course thinner. If you play the cello and need some affordable strings - try them !

Genuine D Addario strings, identical to the ones used on my Yamaha svc 50. They are very good value and I think one would have to spend a lot more for better sound.

Make sure you check the packet! When I opened mine I had 2 G strings and the D was missing! Very unhappy. These are good strings but very disappointed

Going from horrible cheap strings to these I can hear and feel the difference while playing, this is a hobby, I'm not a professional but I feel this is a good price for all 4 strings.

Noticed a difference in quality in a good way with this product, after having to replace an old string. Granted I'm just starting to get back into playing after 10+ years but I could still tell the better sound.

Added these to an old cheap cello for my daughter. It did improve the sound and she said they were easier to play than the strings that came on it. I found these strings recommended on a couple sites as A&D replacements. I just ordered all 4 as a set and they all sound nice.

As a cello teacher I am constantly searching for products that are both high quality and enhance the sound of student level instruments. I was always a strong advocate of D'Addario Helicore string sets for all my fractional student cellos but gave these a try for a 1/8th cello I own. I especially liked the price for these since the cello itself is only a couple hundred. I was very impressed with how much I liked these strings on the cello. Perfect way to upgrade the lower models of Cecilio cellos and greatly improve the sound over the cheap strings that come on the cello. I will definitely be considering these more in the future for my students. Priced not too much more than Red Label strings for a set, but with the D'Addario quality and sound I've loved with the Helicore strings.
