Good build quality.
Looked at other radios of a similar size and style, and after reading reviews we decided to order the Azatom Blackfriars 2. So far it's been very good. Quite easy to navigate the control system if you read the booklet thoroughly, and keep it handy for reference. Sound quality is quite good considering the size and price bracket. Battery life is very good after receiving a full charge, at over 12 hours, so very useful due to the portability of the radio. Overall, very pleased with the purchase so far.

A good radio with one drawback
Bought as a bedside radio. Can get all my favourite DAB stations on it and save as presets. Also has the sleep function on it where you can leave radio on when you put lights out and it switches off later at a preset time interval. Controls are on front of unit. Easily accessible and easy to use. Alarm setting is easy to use. It also comes with a mini remote control to use with it, which is very handy. One thing does disappoint me. The background light on display panel has a brightness setting of high, medium and low but there is not much difference between them and I'm finding low is still giving off too much light for me when i'm ready to go to sleep. Putting up with this as I like the rest about the radio

Good little radio lacking Base
Good compact size, colour nice although I did think facia would be all chrome but it was white with chrome knobs. I went for black wood effect to go with my kitchen.Very easy to set up. Not done an extensive test of battery life yet, when I've left unplugged (fully charged) 1 bar out of 3 have been used overnight on the battery 🔋 indicator.I can get more channels than I need compared to my old radio, I can now get Gold (🇬🇧 london), I live in Hertfordshire. Preset stations are easy to store, I didn't even need manual to help work through what radio functions do.In settings there are different sound modes (pop, classic, normal ect) BUT the base is not enough for my liking and it appears I can't give any more depth to sound. If you are in your 20's or even 30s this radio probably might not be for you. I'm 57 I do like a bit of boom! Anyway it's sufficient for my needs.I don't have the aerial fully up because my kitchen cabinets prevent that as there isn't as all round "pivot" but you still get a crystal clear sound.Unit is light and stations are displayed with what song is playing, time and date, love that feature as my old one didn't. You can dim display or off mode.I think this radio is great also coz I can link to my phone through Bluetooth but sound is lower than if I just had radio.I would rate this as a medium range quality but for price it's really good.Perhaps manufacture could introduce more base, I would be really happy then.Hope this helps you decide.UPDATE.. I forgot to switch on to charge, leaving power to drain but system goes into standby type mode. If you hold power button for a few moments it comes back on. At least I know how long battery lasts. I guess if you want to unplug and say have while your gardening eg on allotment I'd say 2-3 hours run time without electrickery.. 🤭😆ANOTHER UPDATE: I've hooked Bluetooth to my PC and films sound better through radio. PC speakers are boosted with this little radio.

Great sound, robust build.
Great sound, used in my kitchen. Remote useful.Scrolling info good. Song title comes up.Station name and time. Not too big to consider taking on travels within UK.As others have said setting presets bit of a faff, but I find that with every radio.Good quality build.Looks good - oak casing

Brilliant little radio with Bluetooth
This is a great radio with a small footprint that fits well on my bedside table. With 30watts it has much more power than the majority of it's competitors. In my opinion it has a good sound with plenty of bass so it doesn't sound tinny. There is a good selection of preset equaliser settings so you can adjust it to your particular preference. The bluetooth connection works perfectly and the DAB reception is strong. I realise that reception varies according to your local area but I don't have to use the extendable aerial with this radio when I have with others.I particularly like the alarm settings, you can chose to wake to an alarm tone or the radio and this starts off quietly and gradually increases to you chosen volume so it doesn't startle you awake. There are two separate alarms. I have set mine at 7am for the week and a slightly later one to go off at the weekend which I think is a great feature. On top of all that It looks really good too.

Solid and Substantial Feel
Aesthetically pleasing and a solid substantial feel. Volume achieves decent levels before distortion (all amps distort at their upper end) and the size of the unit and speaker cone provides a sound with decent enough bottom end without it being described as hi-fi. It suffices for a 5 metre by 4 metre soft furnished room. The (sort of) tower design reduces surface footprint but obviously the absolutely best thing about the design for a perpetual boy is that it's face looks like a 1950's robot. It's worth buying for that aspect alone to be honest. Two minor negatives:-1. It didn't auto change the time today at the start of BST. An easy manual change though.2. Bluetooth is as receiving paired device hence I was unable to pair with my sound bar which behaves in a similar manner. Cabling is an option to achieve that but that's not something I want to do.
