Perfect pack for just the essentials while on the move
UPDATE: I canโt believe my pack turns 5 years old this week! Pics show minimal wear and tear (maybe a little dirt that will wash off) after many miles of hiking, trail running, traveling, and orienteering. If a fanny pack is too small for your needs but a backpack too big, then this would be the perfect size. I wear a unisex size S and love this pack for day hikes, running, and cycling. I was looking for a minimal pack, just big enough for essentials. Two small waist packs hold keys, lip balm, and a small/medium cell phone within easy reach. (Update: it likely will not hold most phones in 2021.) There is a small mesh pocket on the inside top of the pack that would fit a larger phone and small snack if you don't mind it being out of reach. The main compartment holds a light outer layer and food. Larger items like a heavy jacket wouldn't fit inside but can be lashed securely to the outside using the adjustable elastic strap (though I haven't quite figured out how to keep my helmet from squeezing out of the elastic). The position of the bike light strap is a little high, so the light would be obscured by anything attached to the outside of the pack, but, absent that, it's a nice feature. The waist and chest straps are generous; with a size 36 chest I have almost 12 in of extra strap to spare. With both straps in place, even while full the pack does not shift or bounce while running. The color is true to the photo, and the fabric is light and durable.
