A good tool
I scribe a lot while fitting bedroom furniture, and was keen to try this tool, not least as it is non-marking - metal compass' need taping up to stop them marking walls. It is a good tool, but I have cut off the rear 'bumps' which I felt can rock the pencil tip off line if the rear end meets a bump. The pencil holder is an odd size too, but does hold the pencil ok once it is in. I have used a fine propelling pencil in the holder so that the pencil itself doesn't need to be moved. Not the perfect solution but all in all I am pleased with it.

Accurate scribes
I'm a cabinet maker and this is a very handy tool to have in my box for quickly and accurately marking scribes. It does have its limitations but when you can fit it in the space you're working it's great

Strong sturdy scribe.
Easy to use. Has its own pencil sharpener attached. Can be used as a compass. Strong and sturdy.

Good scribing tool
I used to used a school compass for scribing and I still do in some circumstances but this is great for flat(ish) walls and floors. It has a retractable point too which means it could be used in a similar fashion to a school compass but I haven't tried it yet because I still own a compass. I'm happy with it. Ive been a joiner since leaving school in 1976!

Very good
Tool is good, I'd used it before. Delivery and price were good, I couldn't find anyone cheaper because everyone seems to import them

Great Concept, Atrocious Execution.
As a professional cabinet and furniture maker I have a few FastCap products which I've found to be both useful and well made however they've really dropped the ball with the Accuscribe 'PRO'. Each of the three 'limbs' of this tool are made clamshell fashion in two half's without sufficient mechanical interlocking or any adhesive to provide structural integrity and thus some rigidity / stability for accurate use (all held together with only the three clamping screws and compass point shaft). Add to this moulding and finishing quality that would make 1980's Christmas cracker gifts look good you don't even get a flat (wobbly) base to work from. My first instinct was to return it but the bare bones best suited my needs so I have kept the tool and after putting some considerable work into it (dismantling, cleaning up the moulds, gluing together, creating a flat / smooth base etc.) I now have a usable, accurate tool, i.e, what should have been delivered. Come on FastCap, pull your socks up - your customers shouldn't have to act as your manufacturing and quality control department.

Poorly manufactured
Shocking manufacturing. Looks and feels cheap plastic. To move pencil I had to use wice and punch it hard. You better off saving money and go for cheap alternative. Really shame.

Is well made and does what it’s supposed to do. It doesn’t slip after tightening like some do. You won’t be disappointed if you purchase this product

I really like this tool . There is no other of its kind that I'm aware of that have the features this has . With all the different ways you can articulate this tool I can't think of a situation where it won't work . It's bigger than I thought which is good . Kind of chunky in fact .It takes up much more space in your tool bag then the school compass does . It's very well made except for the pencil that comes with it . Throw that away . While were talking pencils I read the reviews about the pencil holder and almost didn't buy this tool . I decided to go ahead with the purchase because everything else I've gotten from fastcap has been top shelf . But you can bet what the first thing I checked was . And I thought at first there was a problem because the pencil would pop up and out of its holder . But the reason was obvious right away . This scribe is designed to hold a sharpie and a # 2 pencil . In order to do that the hole in the clamp is the diameter of a sharpie . So to use a pencil requires a reducer bushing that slips around the pencil making the pencil the diameter of a sharpie . Simple enough and works great to but only if the bushing is pushed in from the bottom side of the clamp . Then the bushing holds the pencil nicely . Mine came with the bushing pushed in from the top . And I suspect all the people who had problems with there pencil holders were like mine was . Once I slipped the bushing on the pencil from the tip end and put it back in the clamp all worked great . In fact there is no need to loosen the clamp at all to adjust the pencil length . Just push the pencil and bushing out the bottom of the holder , slide the bushing up or down as needed on the pencil and slip the pencil back in its holder . That's much easier and faster than loosening the clamp nut . The only time I need to loosen and tighten the clamp nut is when using a sharpie . The sharpies don't leave as fine a line as a pencil does but there much better for rough work than a pencil . I thing it's worth the bushing in order to be able to use both a pencil and a marker . The metal compass point is adjustable and can even be retracted completely out of the way . Allowing you to use the tool itself against the wall or whatever your scribing without risk of scratching anything with the metal point . The scribe is about a inch wide and will lay flat against the surface your tracing which makes it very stable . Or you can use the compass point as you would a traditional compass to trace with . The brass knobs are nice , they have fine knurling on them to aid with grip . The built in pencil sharpener is huge and works well . Fastcap puts them on their tape measures as well which is nice when your doing trim work out in the field . As I said I like this scribe and I've tried a lot of them .
