This original set of songs were written specifically to help children memorize the spellings of the first 25 high frequency words presented in the Houghton Mifflin Language Arts Series. These fun songs help children easily memorize the spellings of these important words in a natural way, just as easily as they memorize the words to any other nursery rhymes or songs! The final song on the CD is a song that reminds children to put a period at the end of each sentence. Words Covered Are: and, are, can, for, go, have, he, here, is, like, me, my, of, on, play, said, see, she, that, the, they, to, was, with, you and I'm Done. PLEASE NOTE: These songs are intentionally short to fit the attention span of the average 3-6 year old child! (Many songs are less than one minute long.) They are written to get straight to point, state it in a way that is simple enough for young children to remember, and then move on to the next lesson. That way, if your child's attention span is only five minutes, he or she should be able to learn the concepts presented in 6-8 songs in just one sitting. Would not recommend!!!!!
Too many kids singing with voices too easily to be misunderstood. Songs to short, sight words used to seldom. Not worth the price and shipping and handling. Won't be ordering any more of these!!!!!

helpful in the classroom!
Great, quick songs to sing along to while transitioning! Some go really fast so I recommend writing the words down but the students have picked up on the songs quickly!

Very disappointed in these short and hard to understand songs
For starters it should be clearly stated in the product description area that each "song" is roughly about 20 seconds long. This is hardly sufficient and results in the entire CD lasting around less than 10 minutes. That coupled with the fact that most letters or words are difficult for a child who doesn't already know the spelling to understand (for example one of the song's lyrics are "Old McDonald had a dog, W-I-T-H, with a "With, With, here and a With With there, etc."-in the song's lyrics, the dog's bark of "With" sounds just like "Woof" which only confuses every child I've used the CD to work with thus far). In each song the sight word should not only be pronounced clearly, but also spelled coherently (another example is "I can spell AND, A-N-D AND, AND is a word I can write with my hand"-every child after listening to this song has told me that they don't have a ANG sight word.) This is one example of many that I could list. And my final critique would be that it further confuses young readers to have a song try to teach you a sight word by adding additional sounds to the ends of words (ie. "Y-O-U spells Y-O-U spells youdalido, youdalido, Y-O-U spells Y-O-U spells youdalidodalido YOU!"-this leaves kids wondering what word "youdalido" is and why they've never heard it before). The idea behind this CD has potential, however there were just too many flaws for me to give it a higher rating. I work with kindergarten children on a daily basis and unfortunately this is not a resource I will continue using, nor will I use it as a reference for parents.
