They are good for tracing CAT6 cables back to a network switch
Sometimes I have to trace an Ethernet cable from a wall jack through a large bundle of cables back to a network switch. Often a warbler won't work beyond a couple of feet if the cable is still attached to the switch, so I need a reliable way to find the switch end so I can disconnect it from the switch and then use a warbler to find the cable in a large bundle of cables. By attaching one of these to the jack end, after about 10 seconds, a network switch will recognize that a loopback is attached and will begin a slow blink of that port on the switch, which looks different than all of the fast blinking or non-blinking ports. It is also handy to have several of these because they can get lost easily or mistakenly discarded as a cut-off cable end, and I can have them in various tool kits.

Smart TV workaround
While I am an IT Professional, I got these for an unusual use case; Plugging one of these into the Ethernet port on my older Vizio "Smart"TV, I was able to disable the built-in Wifi. From experience, many smart TVs don't allow one to disable to the Wifi, since that renders the "smart" features unusable. However, many of them do have built-in software triggers whereby if a physical network connection is detected, the Wifi will be disabled. Our Vizio TV stopped getting firmware and app updates 2-3 years ago, and the built in apps are slowly ceasing to function as the vendors (Netflix, Amazon, etc) update their backend services making them incompatible. We've since upgraded to an Amazon Firestick for our streaming services (which is overall a nicer experience than the slow TV apps), but without a way to disable the built-in Wifi, the TV was still broadcasting out, adding interference, and grabbing an IP on the network, but then not doing anything else.Since these plugs register as a valid physical connection, they switch off the Wifi and therefore disable all now-obsolete smart functions. I only needed to use one, but having extra will be useful in the long run. If you're struggling to try to turn off the Wifi on your smart TV, I highly recommend these!

They didn't work
Not one of mine worked. Very strange! I thought I must be going crazy, then bought some others from a different source and they worked fine. It was kind of embarrassing because I handed them out at work and they all came back to me telling me theirs didn't work.
