My Big Fat Greek Wedding

I recently bought this DVD for a friend for their birthday so have not watched this copy. But have seen the film several times and will be purchasing one in the near future for myself as it is a wonderfully light-hearted "feel good" film of which there seem to be so few of nowadays. It is another example of one of those highly successful low budget films full of good humour which you just can't help laughing at and is a gem of a film. It is EXTREMELY well acted and magnificently cast which no doubt is a major factor in making it the success it is. The emphasis is very much upon a Greek family living in the USA. The new world is embraced but everything good is derived from their Greek culture and heritage (according to the Father!) Without spoiling the plot or storyline for anyone, there is a scene with a family get together and one person is introduced to them. The Aunt invites them to dinner and is advised that the person "Don't eat meat". This is repeated out loud by the whole gathering causing an audible silence in the room and to which she simply replies, "that's OK we'll have lamb!" ??? Lol! If you are feeling a little down in the dumps, this cannot fail to cheer you up. The only tears in this film are of laughter! Needless to say the delivery was on time and in good condition. Another successful Amazon purchase.

You don't need to be Greek in this awesome comedy to enjoy the laughs! Granted, some of the gags and jokes make sense a bit more if you are, but the stereotype being mocked here is found in all cultures. I have Asian, Middle Easter and African friends and colleagues that LOVED this film and keep referring to it time and time again even more than a decade later! Some of the characters depicted in this film are just typically Greek - "what you mean you are vegetarian?". "Ah, OK, I make lamb then!".

ALL GREAT

This is one of my favourite films. It's witty, the characters are lovable, the storyline sweet. But on watching it again, I realised that it relies on stereotyping, turning characters into caricatures. My daughter loved it. She doesn't get distracted by details like I do! Maybe the Greek Americans of Chicago are like the film depicts them. Nia Vardalos has done well overall. And if you like this film, don't miss out the next one where she becomes a tour guide in Greece! It circulates under two titles but is the same film.

Very funny film , poignant too , if you have seen the others you'll know what to expect.. Buy it , watch it , feel good ..😊

It's so funny and you can watch it over and over again.

The item arrived well within the date for delivery however it was described as very good . Clearly on the box the inside cover was stuck to the clear plastic by sum liquid wtr etc however there was nothing wrong with the disc itself

It is still so funny after all these years!

Great movie - arrived on time

昨年の８月アメリカに滞在中、ホストファミリーの奥様が「あなたたちにぴったりの映画だからぜひいってらっしゃい」とアメリカ人の男性と交際中の私に薦めてくれたのがこのMy Big Fat Greek Weddingだった。以来、この作品は私の中で密かなアカデミー賞候補NO.1となっている。 ニア・ヴァルダロス演じるトゥーラのギリシャ系アメリカ人ゆえの憂鬱と、愛する男性の出現による女性としての輝く変化が楽しい。彼女がギリシャ人としてのプライドを固持する父親との板ばさみに心を痛める場面は、日本の家族模様を彷彿させるものがあって思わずぐっとくる。男性が真に女性を愛する時、彼らの変貌と献身を実際に何度も見てきた私だが、この作品は相手を取り巻く家族（一族）にまで及んでおりさらに感動を覚えた。決して相手を獲得する為の一時のやせがまんではない、と感じる。 とりたてて有名な俳優が出演しているわけでもなく超大作でもないこの作品は、たぶん日本では上映されないと思ったが、その予想も見事!外れた。実際にこの作品を見れば、トゥーラが’快適で望み通りの結婚’をターゲットに努力し探し当てたいわゆる結婚サクセスストーリーではないことがわかるだろう。余談だが、あの劇場の一角で（さも身に覚えがあるような様子で）度々大笑いしていた女性の一団、あれはきっとMy Big Fat Greek familyの一員に違いないと思った。

È un vecchio film, ma a noi piace. Trovato per caso ed acquistato di impulso. Visto l’età è la velocità in cui migliora la qualità audio e video, devo dire che si difende bene. Ottimo per una serata in famiglia.
