Easy installation, quiet, USA made
After 24 years our Kenmore 3/4 HP food waste disposer finally gave up the ghost. Bearings in the motor were getting pretty worn, and starting to bind, making it stall before it could even get going. One of the challenges I thought I would face was that the old unit was nearly 3 inches smaller in diameter than this one is, and I was concerned that I would need to do some plumbing modification in order to make this unit fit.Thankfully the engineers and designers at InSinkErator thought of this, and they've worked hard to standardize how these appliances fit, and they made the drain outlet side of the unit flat, so the distances under sink from the drain in the sink, to the connection for the drain in the wall are very close to the same as they were for my 24 year old Kenmore. This made installation very easy. The instructions were clear, the packaging, excellent and mostly recyclable, and the new "quick connect" wiring was a breeze to connect and use.In operation the InSinkErator Evolution is very quiet, and seems to process any of the food waste we put into it very quickly. My ONE, very minor, niggle, is that the wiring that allows this appliance to be plugged into a standard 110v outlet is sold separately, at a cost of about $16. I see both sides of this, there is a large percentage of the population that would simply throw that part away if it was included, and that seems wasteful too, so no deduction on score, but for my use it would have been super neat if I could have ordered ONE thing and had it show up ready to install. To InSinkErator's credit, it's well disclosed that this wiring is NOT included, so it's not a surprise when you open the package. In summary, this USA designed, USA made appliance was very well packaged, came with great instructions, and was easy to install. Once it was installed it operates efficiently and quietly, and I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Replaced the Badger series that was in the house when we bought it. This one is MUCH nicer and significantly quieter. It is also a lot more powerful and handles chicken bones (like an entire drumstick) with ease. It was easy to install and wire up. It also seems to grind up food much better than the Badger one. If we did too much pasta or something like rice the drain would clog and I would have to pull the pipes under the sink and snake it through. I have not had any issues since installing this one.

Excellent Product - Very Difficult to Install
This is a very well made, efficient, and quiet food disposal. It is well worth the price. The instructions and parts that come with it are top quality and there are gobs of videos on YouTube on how to install it, including from Incinerator. Here's a pro-tip. If the space under your sink is small and very cramped, hire a plumber. I'm a 68 year-old man, 5'10" in height and have a 32" waste. I'm still very fit but I still only have two arms and hands. My wife did her best to help but there wasn't enough room with me halfway under the sink and lying on my side for her to fit her arm and hand, and she couldn't see anything from that position. I used a car scissor jack to lift the product, which made things easier. But the hardest part for me was fitting the wiring block, which comes with the product, into its receptacle. I'm going to write to Incinerator and compliment their product, but I'm going to ask them to fabricate a much easier wiring block. I can picture it in my head and would have made this installation a lot easier.

Works well, a couple catches
Installation was simple - replacing the same brand so it was a 30-minute job and was able to use some of the existing hardware. Initially was really nice and quiet, a noticeable improvement from the Badger1 it replaced. The splash guard leaves something to be desired. It's very stiff, and hasn't really loosened up after a couple months of use. The holes are too small to allow food of anything larger than a pea to go down (seriously, blueberries get stuck and back up in the guard), which is great for noise suppression but also terrible for drainage. I modified the splash guard to open up the hole in the middle and added some extra space to the slits up the sides. While it works better, it's still not great and seems to want to hold onto a lot of smaller food items that weren't an issue with the old unit. What this does is frequently causes the water and food to back up into the sink unless you give the flaps a bit of a nudge. Even with the disposal running there's not enough suction to pull it all down a lot of the time. I went through all the pipes and confirmed no blockages - it's 100% the rubber splash guard. Odds are I'm going to have to open it up a bit more but...Adding more holes and enlarging openings in the splash guard also means that the noise levels are noticeably increased. Not as loud as the old unit (or so I tell myself), but it sort of defeats the purpose of getting a "quieter" unit if you have to modify it to essentially make it noisier and work properly. I don't think the added size/insulation on the body does much in this department except takes up slightly more space. With all that said, it was still worth it for the ease of installation and it does do a good job with food (once you get it past the splash guard), but I'm not sure it's worth the extra cost over the more basic units once you factor all this in.
