Bought this to replace an aging and cranky internal drive in an imac. Works well right out of the box, plug and play. Extra fun feature if you have a smart TV with a USB port: cycling the power/eject on this unit and then plugging it into the TV, the TV thinks your DVD-R content is now a memory stick, so, slide shows and the like, whatever the TV will display off a thumb drive, will play direct from the DVD drive without needing a dedicated player or laptop

Supposedly this DVD drive should work on plugging it into a computer, without the need for any additional software. What actually happens when a DVD is inserted is that the drive sounds like it's working, but then it just ejects the disk. I tried over and over with two different Mac computers--a Mac M1 Mini and an older macBook Pro--and with several DVDs, but without success. I followed the direction included in the product description on Amazon, which indicates it should be plugged directly into the computer usb port--not into a hub--but it still doesn't work.

Great product. Size makes it easy to carry for use anywhere. A bit light on instructions on how to use; fairly easy to figure out how to use. Otherwise, gets the job done—playing, copying, etc.

I plug the DVD-RW external drive into my laptop and hear it whirl but I can't find it "anywhere" on my desktop. Tried a restart, made sure that the external drive was seen in "preferences' and still nothing, I can't even find a website for support. Total waste of money so don't waste yours on this product.

Works as advertised. I plugged it into my MacBook Pro thunderbolt port. Plug and play, no drivers or software to install.

I got it and I followed the instructions and it doesn’t work and now one of my dvd’s are stuck inside. 😭
