Defective
Would have given zero stars if I could have. I bought this to replace the exact same thermometer that I have had for a while but that one broke. This arrived and couldn't be turned on. I opened up the battery compartment and as other reviewers have noted, there was not a tab to pull to activate the battery. Maybe it didn't turn on because the battery is defective. I have no idea but it is in its box to be returned tomorrow morning. I originally bought this because it was a Wirecutter choice and I need an accurate thermometer. Very disappointed.

Accurate and easy to use for kids
Best kid thermometer! Accurate and quick. Both my toddler and infant are unbothered by it even when sick which is a huge win! Quick and easy to use without breaking the bank

Fast measurements
I bought this because the one I had took 30 seconds for a result. This one takes 10. Readings are about half a degree higher than 2 other thermometers I have but over all it does the job quickly and efficiently.

Very inconvenient thermometer + no covers
You have to press a few buttons to get it to read. Takes a few seconds like 8. 2 second read? That is a false statement. There are only two buttons. How complicated would it possibly be? I read the instruction and over and over to default the setting. Nope. Not working as it said it would. Are you feeling unwell to begin with AND trying to get the thermometer to work the way you want it to be? Choose a different thermometer. Spend more money perhaps. No cover came with it, so don’t waste your money on choosing the one with the covers option.
