After dealing with severe bubbling on the grips of my Dualsense Edge, I decided to give this a go, and so far I'm very impressed. The physical quality of the plastic is fine. Not great, not terrible. But compared to the original shiny piano black trim that attracted so many fingerprints and scratches that I'm pretty sure it had an active tinder profile for them, the replacement's matte black finish looks much cleaner and higher quality. Fitment is excellent. The seams are comparable to, possibly even better than, those of the original part. It took a bit of work to get everything snapped into place, but once it was it looked and felt flawless. The grips are a slight disappointment, but still a massive improvement from the original bubbling plastic. There's no actual rubber pads on the grip, just a molded part of the hard plastic backplate. I can definitely imagine some people finding the molded edge irritating, and personally I do wish they'd just made the "grips" flat instead of raised, but it's still an improvement over the bubbling, degrading rubber that was there before. Installation was fairly easy when following the YouTube video. The video does advise caution when prying off the original backplate, because it's definitely possible for some bozo to accidentally hurt themselves while doing so. I TOTALLY didn't, though, and I ABSOLUTELY didn't hurt myself TWICE, totally 100% true story. Anyways, completely unrelated question, does anyone have recommendations on band-aids? Overall I am very impressed and strongly recommend this to anyone looking to replace their Dualsense Edge backplate.

So I've had the white Dualsense edge controller for about a year now and it's been awesome, it became my primary controller so it's seen tons of use and started to show the small drawback signs of the underside grip panel getting really dirty and it luckily hasn't started to get bad but the rubber is barely starting to bubble up I just received a 2nd Dualsense edge controller as a gift (Midnight Black) and even though it's all black so I don't have the worry of the dirty grips being a visible issue, I wanted to avoid the rubber bubbling up far down the road and also wanted to give it a more custom, personalized look at the same time After looking around online I discovered the eXtremeRate trim shells and reading reviews it was perfect for what I wanted I've had to get a little handy with some of my other controllers from past sony consoles replacing the internal battery etc. So I am somewhat familiar with tearing apart sony controllers but the dualsense edge is a completey different design from all the other controllers sony has designed with no screws on the outer shell holding it together so I was a little nervous about pulling the trim panels off to replace them. The video for the trim panel installation provided was helpful but I was nervous about breaking anything while removing the stock panels so I did some digging online and found quite a few very helpful videos on YouTube showing exactly how to remove the trim panels using the plastic tool kit provided with the eXtremeRate panels. The plastic pry tool kit provided is awesome eXtremeRate includes everything needed to install their products and even encluded spare parts for the controller They arrived super quick in just 2 days with no issues The grip feels just as nice and comfortable as the stock ones do, they provide an awesome improved appearance and fix the rubber bubbling issue the stock grips get overtime I love the look of my new midnight black dualsense edge and ended up swapping the stock white panel on my white dualsense edge for the stock black panel from my midnight black edition and when the rubber starts to bubble on the black panel I'll definitely be coming back to replace it with these, I highly recommend these to anyone who wants to improve the look of their dualsense edge controller and fix the stock rubber bubbling drawback these controllers have

Got this yesterday (07/14/26). Putting them on was easy and the fit was like factory. I was concerned they'd be too slick, but after four hours of playing, they're fine. I didn't replace the latch slider, really no need to. Good to have the spare parts though. I love the fact I no longer have those rubber pads flapping around. I should have looked into this a long time ago. Easy upgrade for you Edge controller.

Dualsense edge controllers will all inevitably have their bottom grips peel and come up. Great solution to this issue and the look is almost seamless. Fitment may give some issues at first but they’re a good fit. Had this one on mine for 2 years.

I had to get something like this because my PS5 Edge Controller started to wear around the rubber. It was coming apart after about 1.5-2 years after use (not to mention it got easily stained really fast within a couple of months). Rather than get replacement rubber, I went with this option because not only could it not come apart again, but it also wouldn't stain and is easily cleaned. The feel took a little bit of getting used to and there isn't much grip. It also kind of takes away the thickness that the rubber padding gave, which is about the only downside. I got used to it after a couple weeks of use. It was pretty easy to replace and looks great.

It’s functional, durable, and elevates the look without affecting gameplay. I’d love to test future texture styles if eXtremeRate expands the lineup.

The rubber on the grip started peeling back so I decided to look for a way to repair it. I opted to go with a replacement instead and I’m glad I found this! It’s a perfect fit and looks great! I see some other folks commented that it’s not a perfect fit and showed photos that had a tiny bit of space between the part and the controller. That’s an installation issue - not a product issue. Mine looked like that as well but I removed it and reseated it a couple of times at which point I got a perfect fit. The switch on the underside to release the top cover has a TINY spring that you have to be careful to not lose. So much for that idea! I lost it in a couple of seconds. Thankfully there were not one, not two, but three spare springs just in case and I’m so glad there were. I have no idea where I would have found a spare had they not had the foresight to include spares. My only complaint is it’s a bit expensive. If you opt to replace all of the panels and triggers, it will cost at least $100 USD (rough estimate) which is steep but hey it’s only money right? 🤣 Now to decide if I want to replace the other panels.

I love it. I picked these up because the original rubber grips were peeling off. The installation was pretty easy, they feel nice in the hand, and it looks great too. It’s only been a day and I’m already considering another set for the outer shell too.

This is a great replacement backplate and part of the front plate for thr Dualsense Edge. Perfect for replacing the rear grip part that wears/peels after some time. No issue with comfort or fitment, it fits perfect. However install was a bit of a chore. You really have to take the controller *completely* apart... to the point where you will wonder if it will all go back together without one of the original controller designer's help. But the YouTube walkthrough is great and will guide you. Just make sure to label your screws if possible!! Too many are too similar and in the video some may look alike that aren't, or not even precisely match your particular model/revision. I had a couple left over that I genuinely could not figure out where they came from, but nothing seems affected anyway. It was a bit of an endeavour and made me rethink the idea of customizing controllers for people. Still, this works great and is well worth it.

A faithful shell replacement thats equal parts stylish and functional. The overall process is fairly simple with the included blue spudger tool, and swaping out the spring mechanism for the front plate is a breeze. Take your time when fitting the new shell, as it does take a bit of force to snap it all together but if done right, you wouldn't know it was a shell swap at all. I highly encourage those who currently have a Dualsense Edge with poorly aging rubber grips to make the purchase and enjoy the controller as you should, it's simple and quick enough that you could do it well under 15 minutes, giving you more time to have fun!
