Bosch PR012 Dust Collection Kit For PR011 Plunge Base

For routing, dust collection is necessary to allow you to get clean routes and also so you can see what you're doing. This fits the base tightly, and seems sturdy enough. It's clear plastic, which isn't the strongest stuff, so I make sure the dust hose is over my shoulder or hung from the ceiling to avoid breaking the dust collection base, which is good practice anyway to prevent the dust hose from affecting your routing path.The colt router (with the old style base) is nearly useless because the height adjustment and overall precision of the fixed base is terrible. With the plunge base and dust collection, it's an excellent little tool.

Just what I needed and perfect price/delivery time. Fits like a glove on my Bosch Colt router.

Although this dust collection kit isn't very sturdy, it collects router chips perfectly.I recommend it because it is 99% effective. Just treat it with care.

Dust collection is good but the plastic it’s made of is too thin in the bend between the hose coupler and the plate that attaches to the router. Much the same as the one that fits the 1617 model. I’ve broken 2 of those. I epoxied part of an old credit card at the “sure to break” section. Hoping it gives a longer life.

See my review of the Bosch Colt plunge base. Bottom line is that after routing a thru-cut on an arc with a 1/4" upcut bit (my first project with the plunge base and dust collection attachment), I couldn't find any dust on or around the workpiece. Installation on the plunge base was a no-brainer. The kit comes with the main attachment sized for a Fein hose, and a black plastic adaptor that (I assume) fits a ShopVac. Since I have a Fein, I tossed the adaptor into a box of dust collector parts that maybe I'll use someday (or throw out if my wife happens to find it). Why can't everything be this refreshingly simple and effective?

Palm router tipped over and it snapped off. I knew it wasn't bulletproof, but falling over on my workbench and breaking is ridiculous.

This fits my router base perfectly. but would not work with the insert installed.

Bosch certainly could have done a better job with the design of this. It helps somewhat, but still leaves a lot of compacted wood chips behind. Other reviewers have mentioned breaks at or near the neck section and I can certainly see why. This thing is flimsy and it wouldn't surprise me if it eventually breaks during use. If you buy it, just be really careful with it.
