Watership Down A Novel

A classic story and in this version there a beautiful illustrations that accompany it.

OMG! I can't believe it has taken me all of these years to read this book! It was such a wonderful book. There were some sad things, but I was able to get through it.I loved getting lost in this world of rabbits, where they talked of their fears, of things they needed to get done, the great camaraderie between each and every one of them. They were all so brave. I loved them all. I had a soft spot mostly for Hazel, Fiver, and Bigwig. I even loved Kehaar! They were all so wonderful and such little hero's!Even though the rabbits where going through all of these hardships I felt like I was taken back in time... to a time of childhood and great things. I guess it's hard to explain, but I'm sure some of you know what I'm talking about. You didn't have to read this as a child to get that feeling.I would recommend this book to anyone that hasn't read it yet. Let me start with a word of warning: this is NOT a book I'd recommend for young children. The story is a good one, but there is violence, death, destruction, suspense, and a few other things that might not be suitable for a younger audience. Otherwise, I recommend this book highly. It is an excellent story that older children and adults can enjoy. Don't let the fact that the characters are animals fool you. This story is not only a cracking good tale, but it is an excellent study in character, command/leadership, and group dynamics. It also provides some fascinating possibilities of how animals might view the world.

This book is a classic! I am introducing my 11 year old son to this world. The Battles are comparable to many of the classic novels, except the main characters are unexpectedly Rabbits. I really liked this book back in high school in the 70's. Reading it next to the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. It stands on its own. Once my son and I read into the battle scenes I know he will be hooked on this book as the readers we were in the 70's. I think his friends will be interested also. A great book to forget about what you are doing and get involved with the story.

I checked this out of the library but had to have my own copy! This adventure classic is fun, sad, and magical. I can't wait to pass it on to my kids.

It’s a classic!!! I watched the animated movie and series from 1999 - 2001. So while I was watching those I was thinking ‘I wanna read the book to see which one is more accurate and I read it last year in August and I love it!!! I totally recommend it, it’s not as scary as the movie

Loved reading this book and loved the movie

My 10 year old says this is his favourite book ever. I read it after him, it is very good.Definitely suitable for bright 10 year olds and any age up all the way to adults.

Bought second hand copy described as being in "Very Good Condition" but it is in fact average at best, and that is being kind. I would describe it as being in poor condition. Not impressed.

Good quality hardback book with ribbon, lots of colour illustrations for a story I love. I bought two. Arrived quickly both times.

Lovely hardback and nicely illustrated. This book is a classic and a must read.
