I have found the chair very stable, quite comfortable and excellent as a small step ladder, my main purpose for buying it. There are only two things which need to be highlighted as negatives. The first is the quite poor instructions for assembly, it is easy if you're not careful, to get it wrong, I did twice because of this, for example, parts not labelled clearly, or the correct direction of assembly on the diagram. I did it eventually on my own but care and careful reading are necessary before starting the assembly, took me about an hour. The second, for more senior buyers, is the weight. It is quite heavy after assembly, especially if you need to move it often. I expect the weight is needed for stability as the step ladder. Despite these two points, overall I am very pleased with the purchase and it is so useful to me now.

Love this chair/ladder. A few tiny nicks in the finish, but nothing that won't look good once the edges smooth with time. Very sturdy and heavy, easy to put together if you get past the ridiculous instructions. I'm in love with it.

The package is not small and quite heavy, All items were present on checking, it might be a good idea to include a couple of spare parts to cover inadvertent losses. We followed the instructions and found these reasonably satisfactory until we found that we had the front step section on back to front. But this was simple to rectify. The spring catches are a very good idea as they reduce the possibility of pinching a hand or finger when moving in chair format chair. I would suggest a larger allan key for securing the cross bolts. To locate the holes in these bolts insert a screwdriver to determine the holes location and position it correctly. All in all a nicely made and presented chair/step combo. Far safer than the rickety old steps we used to use, now firewood

Very sturdy once put together. Took me about an hour to put together- while I was watching TV.You do need a Philips screwdriver for safety catches.Would benefit from a cushion for comfort if sitting on it for long.Great value compared to antique metamorphic library chairs.

The package did not contain any instructions. That was a good start but there are not too many pieces or different types of piece so I decided to try to assemble it anyway.From pictures online I was able to fit everything together, however;- The fittings were poorly made and not at all easy to assemble.- Several screws were threaded improperly and so couldn't actually screw together (fortunately I ended up with some spare pieces so I got around that problem).- The included Allen key was so soft that it stripped itself before I finished assembling.- The wood has some very large splinters that I've just painfully found- While it feels fairly sturdy the loud creaking of the wood does not fill me with confidence.Just an absolutely terrible product and wouldn't even be worth it at half the price.

Didn't spot the damage until we had built it, which took quite a lot of effort. There's no easy way to contact the seller for a partial refund, so it was return it or put up with the damage. As it had taken so long to construct, we decided to fix it ourselves, but not very pleased as it was quite expensive for what it is. Not the best quality.

I've had a similar step chair for a few years, bought ready made from a local retired carpenter for around £200. It's quite heavy and a nuisance to cart from one room to another so I bought this for a room where some quite heavy boxes have to be stored in high cupboards.Basically it's a decent piece of kit, and once put together feels easily strong enough to support my 12 stone. It also looks better than anticipated, being made of laminated bamboo (the pictures make it look like cheap pine, but it's nicer than that).Others have pointed out that the instructions are pretty basic, and they certainly lack detail. I found them just about sufficient, though you need to have your wits about you. Most of the screws and bolts have hex heads and an allen key is provided; if you have to rely on this, it'll add a fair bit of time to putting it together. I took an hour, but used a T-handle hex key (in effect a hex screwdriver). If you buy this chair, you'd do well to borrow or buy such a device.

I was looking for a folding step ladder chair for my home. since I do a bit of woodworking I thought I would make one myself. It would have cost me over $300 in wood and materials to make it and since this was less than half that cost it was a no brainer. I noticed from the reviews that assembly and assembly instructions were the main complaint. Assembly is a bit involved and the instructions are not the best. Since I already investigated making my own and since I have experience in assembling furniture . My advice is to lay out ALL of the pieces, wood and hardware, identify them and review the assembly before you start. I assembled my chair in under 60 minutes by myself. I am 184cm tall (6ft2") and 110kg (240lbs) and this easily handles my weight in step ladder mode. This is the perfect piece of furniture for us, used as a chair in my entrance way and a step ladder for checking smoke detector or collecting items from atop our cupboards.

I keep mine in my closet. Most of the time I sit on it to put my shoes on, but I can quickly and easily convert it into a step ladder to reach things on high shelves. It is so helpful and convenient.

A lot of the bolts wouldn't twist on. It took hours. Buttttt once it did, the chair/ladder was absolutely perfect! They definitely need better instructions.
