Artificial Intelligence for Robotics: Build intelligent robots using ROS 2, Python, OpenCV, and AI/ML techniques for real-world tasks

The book is really well written and it explain the concept into a really compressible way that is not complicated at all. I’m half way through and I really find it interesting. Looking forward to start coding. I think is an excellent way to learn easily different topics of ml that can sometime be boring or difficult to digest. There has been an initial delay from the author of sharing the list of hardware needed if you want to replicate the whole project for real, that is now sorted. Fantastic book no doubts about it!

I went into this title with some confidence as I have programmed for quite a while. I will say straight away this is not a good subject level, nor the best title for complete beginners. Even as an experienced developer the setup was quirky, took some time other than get settled and I had to backtrack and retrace steps a couple of times, but I got there but I did feel like a noob in many places though Once you’re off and into the content it’s quite a lot to embrace. Some of the tooling was new to me, some of the idioms too. Sometimes I felt like I was copying along with magic, other places the title did a good job of making sure the penny dropped for me. I’d say this is a title I would definitely go through again at a slower pace as there was a multitude of places I could have paused and gone down a rabbit hole of additional reading and exploring. All in all it's a good title to stretch the skills into something new and really quite exciting once you get going. I didn’t quite feel like I had super powers at the end, but I did feel that once I’d actually mastered it I would be on the right track to getting some super powers. An intriguing title and a good choice if you’re looking for something new. I was somewhat familiar with some of the libraries used already which helped a lot, but I learned a lot too, or learned what I had to learn more about to become proficient. I would read more from this author. Intriguing stuff for sure.

I had high hopes and was really looking forward to working through this book. The theory and concept are well written and easy to understand. However, actually building this project is a huge challenge for even the intermediate or advanced hobbyist. GitHub repo is outdated and not (yet) matching what the book is asking you to do. Same goes for the parts list or missing wiring diagrams. I've already spent around $500 trying to get this going but struggling just to get basic robot building done, let alone any coding or testing. I have a background in electrical engineering and machine learning so was hoping this book/project would provide a good base from which to continue my learning and experiments with AI driven approaches to robotics. Be warned, there's a lot of setup required first and a steep learning curve for anyone new to this. If the code/schedmatics improve I'll consider revising my review.

If you know enough to buy this book, you don’t need this book. This book is full of concepts and sudo code and you cannot use this book to build a functional robot. For example, it does very little to explain the easiest part, the Arduino that drive the wheels and servos.
