โ โ โ โ โ Wholesome Flavor and Fun Gameplay โ Minor Tweaks Needed for Competitive Play
The Family Matters deck from Bloomburrow is easily one of the most charming precons I've played in a long time. The woodland creature theme is absolutely delightfulโbrimming with flavor, and every card feels like it belongs in a cozy, storybook world. The art direction is top-tier, and the deckโs synergy around family and teamwork mechanics is incredibly well done. You can tell a lot of care went into crafting this. Gameplay-wise, the deck is a ton of fun right out of the box. Itโs accessible for newer players but has enough layers of synergy to keep more experienced players engaged. I played a few games straight out of the packaging and had a great time watching the deck come to life. That said, Iโm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons: 1. Power Level: Out of the box, it's just a bit underpowered compared to some other recent Commander precons. A couple of the creatures or support spells could use slight upgrades if you're planning to take this to a more competitive table. 2. Mana Base: The land selection works, but itโs not optimized. Some color-fixing or faster lands wouldโve made a huge difference, especially in a deck that thrives on getting multiple creatures out efficiently. Still, for casual Commander nights, flavor lovers, or anyone who enjoys well-themed decks with solid synergy, Family Matters is a great pick. Iโm already making a few tweaks to upgrade itโand Iโll be keeping this adorable critter family in my rotation.

Favorite modern commander
Received fully sealed, and provably authentic. The deck itself is very fun, with lots of powerful interactions and cards included from the start. The included accessories are very cool and appreciated also, like the tokens and counters along with the exciting collector sample booster, but the included deck box is not very durable or sturdy for that matter. I highly recommend this deck, but would also caution against using the included box and suggest upgrading asap.

Do not ignore the STORK
Excellent precon. You get a lot of bang for your buck with this one. Many precons can't be played right out of the box without spending at least 100 dollars extra, but with this one, you can sleeve it up, and start playing right away without spending anything more than what you spent on the sleeves. Don't discount Family Matters because of its more silly theme. Yes the commander is a stork with a funny hat. Your friends will surely laugh at your silly commander, laugh, and probably ignorere you even and focus on the more serious commanders on the table. Give it a couple of turns, and see who is laughing then. Spoiler: Your friends aren't laughing so much, anymore, at the stork with the funny hat. Highly recommended precon, for you, or a loved one. Show some love to the stork with the funny hat. Top 3 MtG precons of all time.

New player review
Coming from the lens of a new player, this deck was a lot of fun and easy to understand. The card art is whimsical with some very interesting designs.

recommend it to fellow busy parents or MTG newcomers wanting themed decks
As a 34-year-old mom balancing full-time work, full-time studies, a husband, four daughters (19-year-old twins who are into gaming, a 16-year-old, and a 4-year-old), plus two energetic dogs and five cats that love knocking over anything on tables, I needed a low-stress hobby to unwind. I picked up the Magic: The Gathering Bloomburrow Commander Deck - Animated Army for some Commander nights with my older girls, and it's brought some exciting family game time after a few sessions. Deck Contents and Theme: This precon deck centers on the Animated Army commander, featuring squirrel and token generation mechanics in the whimsical Bloomburrow setting with animalfolk characters. It includes 100 cards, a life tracker, a deck box, a strategy insert, and tokensโeverything ready to play out of the box. The art is adorable with forest critters animating into armies, appealing to my daughters' love for cute yet strategic games. The mana base has basics and some dual lands, but it's tuned for green-white, focusing on proliferate and +1/+1 counters for growing your forces. Gameplay and Strategy: In our games, the deck shines in building a wide board of animated tokens, overwhelming opponents with squirrels and rhinosโsuper fun for casual pods where we laugh at the fluffy army takeovers. My twins appreciate the synergy with cards like proliferate engines that scale threats quickly, and it's forgiving for newer players like my 16-year-old. Setup is quick, and the included tokens make tracking easy, even with my cats batting at the table. However, the mana curve feels a bit top-heavy early on, sometimes leading to slow starts if draws are unlucky, requiring some sideboard tweaks for consistency. Build Quality and Value: The cards are standard MTG qualityโpremium foils in key spots without warpingโand the deck box holds everything snugly, surviving my dogs' curious sniffs. For the price, it's a great entry into Commander for Bloomburrow fans, with upgradable slots for custom touches. No major misprints, and the strategy guide helped us optimize it right away. Pros: Engaging token and animation theme, perfect for family game nights. Ready-to-play with solid precon synergy and fun art. Good value, including extras like tokens and storage. Scalable for beginners to experienced players in my household. Cons: Mana curve can be clunky in early turns without tuning. Relies heavily on board presence, vulnerable to wipes. Tokens might scatter easily with pets around the table. Final Thoughts: The Animated Army deck from Bloomburrow has added a delightful, strategic twist to our gaming sessions, helping me relax amid the chaos of kids and pets. It's not tournament-level out of the box, but it excels in casual fun, and my daughters are hooked. I'd recommend it to fellow busy parents or MTG newcomers wanting themed decksโmight add some ramp cards for better flow.

The decks are packed in a box and then packed in another box so they are well protected. I plan to keep them sealed as a collection.
