Neurocomic (Neurocomics)

The book will stay on my bookshelf for a long time! A wonderfully illustrated journey through neuronal processes in the brain as well as brief introductions to some classic historical characters in the field of neuroscience. I anticipate this book to be read and enjoyed by many who are drawn in by the classic metallic leaf cover art and kept engaged by the overall simplicity of the illustrations. Would certainly make a perfect gift for anyone slightly interested in neuroscience/psychology and illustration. I hope to see some more graphic novels like this one - excellent!

As a psychology student I really loved Neurocomic. I had not yet started learning about the functioning of the brain so it was really the first introduction I have ever read, but it was the perfect introduction, and such a delight to read. Now having a bit more knowledge about the functions of the brain, I am even more impressed with Neurocomic-it sums up crucial information in the most memorable and accurate way. Thank you!

A wonderfully presented and informative book. I would recommend this for many different audiences - I am currently studying towards an undergraduate business degree and am using this book as a tool to inform my knowledge of neuroscience. Do not expect a medical encyclopaedia, this is far more of a colloquial explanation of our brain and nervous system through the use of metaphors and imagery.

I love this book, I got it whilst doing an MSc in Psychology that had a lot of neuroscience in it.This is a great and creative way to tell the story of neuroscience along side the science stuff you actually need.A beautifully illustrated book

This is a fun little book describing not only the history and the main players within Neurscience, but the workings of the brain itself, told from the perspective of a character trapped inside the brain.As somebody who has read a bit of popular science in the Neuroscience area there wasn't a lot of new info here. The book can be easily read in less than 15 minutes, so don't expect an in-depth discussion on the subject. It's a nice way of presenting the topic though, and would serve as a good introduction to newcomers.The book itself is certainly nicely presented and sits nicely on my shelf :) If you like discussions of science presented in graphic novel format might I also suggest  Logicomix: An Epic Search for Truth

Perfect condition. Arrived quickly and will be a fantastic birthday present for a friend. Cleverly written and drawn interpreting the brain in an interesting way.

This is a marvelous way to learn of the history and development of neuroscience. It is both easy to understand and a gateway for much deeper investigation. Giving a framework and vocabulary, it enables the reader to approach the subject with a degree of confidence not found in pure text.

The illustrations are beautiful, but the concepts are way too simplified and the ending didnt have the impact it could have had. A fun book for the bookshelf though, if nothing else just for its beautiful cover. I imagine this would be a hit with kids and young adolescents, I'd have loved it at 9 or 10.

What I really loved about it is the multiple levels of accessibility: it has information that anyone, ranging from elementary to PhD, would find interesting. Perhaps the only caveat is that you can read it in under an hour, it is very brief.Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in neuroscience.

I have studies neuroscience and this illustrated book is the only one I have found so far that is an accurate intro to neuroscience. The illustrator found brilliant ways to depict what the science behind it all is. I would recommend this book to children and adults who would like to see neuroscience through a fun eye!

Da studente di scienze cognitive e interessato alle neuroscienze, ero già a conoscenza di quanto esposto in questo graphic novel, ma, seppur una lettura brevissima, il libro è molto divertente e ben fatto. Presenta argomenti come il funzionamento dei neurotrasmettitori e della comunicazione neurale in modo chiaro e allettante, e soprattutto dentro una cornice narrative d'avventura, riminiscente di Alice nel Paese delle Meraviglie. Il libro in sé è ben curato, con una copertina rigida che definire bella è riduttivo. Consiglio la lettura sia a chi è del settore e vuole prendersi una pausa da monografie pesanti e pubblicazioni accademiche, sia a chi non sa nulla del cervello ma ne è incuriosito. In Italia il libro è edito da Rizzoli, e consiglio la lettura in italiano a quei giovani lettori e lettrici che dimostrano curiosità per le scienze; il libro è un ottimo modo per simolarli ulteriormente.
