Our red wing leather protector spray prevents water, salt and other elements from penetrating the surface where they can be wiped away instead of soaking into the leathers pores and fibers. It contains no silicone and is recommended for oil-tanned, smooth-finished and roughout leathers. For almost a century, Red Wing Shoes has been producing top-quality work boots and shoes. It started with a corner store in the quiet river town of Red Wing, Minn. Today, Red Wing Shoes produces thousands of handmade shoes every day, making their legendary quality available worldwide. A true American success story, Red Wing Shoes provided footwear for the U.S. Military in both World Wars. Norman Rockwell created artwork for the company during the 1960s. And in the new global economy, Red Wing Shoes continues to evolve to meet the needs of a new generation, with more than 150 styles perfect for work or play. Red Wing Shoes is legendary for producing tough, durable footwear that can handle any challenge. Their shoes and boots are created with four principles in mind: quality, durability, comfort, and craftsmanship. Each is given a hand inspection before being sent out the door, to ensure that it meets Red Wing Shoes' exacting standards. And the quality of their footwear is guaranteed. So look to Red Wing Shoes first for footwear that lasts.

Small, expensive, easily clogged, doesn't do anything
I purchased this along with some of redwing's leather conditioner to keep my new Blacksmiths in good shape. The leather cream is great, the protector is pretty much useless. First, the bottle is a measly 4 ounces, which is not a lot of product for the price. That complaint aside, does it work? Not in the least. The pump sprayer clogged almost immediately. After i got it working again, I saturated the outside of the boot at let it dry, after giving it a day to cure, i tested its ability to repel water and a quick splash resulted in no beading and the water soaked right in to the leather. If you want a product that doesn't darken leather and actually protects, I recommend Atsko Silicone Water Guard. You get 10.5 ounces of product for a couple dollars less, it actually works and does not darken the leather. Water beads right up and rolls off. It will not damage your boots. In fact, Red Wing suggests leather protector or silicone right on their boot care page. The latter actually works.

Great product similar to other brands !
This product has worked on my Iron Rangers, and with it being similar to another product I’ve used, I’ve learnt to not simply spray it on . . Spray liberally and then use fingers to spread out evenly, then leave to dry following up with a light brushing.Full protection in a March downpour across fields. My boots are Harness Leather, Rough and Tough, and RoughOut. No Colour Change !Excellent !

At the moment protecting my red wing boots from the rain. Spray on every few weeks to keep them coated. A little pricey but keeping with the same brand as my boots.

Has not stopped my suede boots water staining
Good to know the protector is not doing any harm, however my suede boots have developed a dark water stain just a few weeks after applying what I thought was a fairly generous helping of this spray.
