Fantastic, great price, and durable.
Let me start off with my reason for buying this mouse. Any other mouse I bought basically broke after a few months usage, and I needed something primarily for gaming. Now let me tell you that I was not let down by this mouse. This mouse has, and still is functioning brilliantly, after, wait for it, 2 years of usage! Now, I find this incredible, because most mouses I had bought before this had some problem, mostly the cable breaking or buttons sticking after a while - none of this on this mouse has happened yet.I play PC games a lot, mostly first person shooters, and I've never had a problem with this mouse getting the job down, unlike other mice I've played games with (a few years ago my mouse sent my in game character spinning in circles faster than a drill), the mouse had sensitivity options so even if the game you're playing doesn't have these options available you're still able to get a comfortable speed for your suiting. The mouse also comes with 2 extra, easily accessible buttons on the side - great for push to talk voice coms or other stuff you'd need access to very easily. Not long after purchasing this mouse it felt really natural to hold, which was a must for me considering my time spent at a computer - I've never had cramps or any pains in my hand caused by this mouse. It's great to control and if you ask me it's a perfect mouse. It's accurate, there's no input lag, it's extremely durable, and highly worth the money - don't waste your money on those stupid razer brands which would cost you more for less, trust me.My only (personal preference) downside to this mouse is the airbrush look to it - I find it really unattractive, but this isn't a dampener for me - If this mouse somehow broke, I'd buy another in a heartbeat.

Exceptional performance
I am a longtime FPS / RPG PC gamer, who also spends a considerable amount of my life chained to a PC for work. I have two of these mice, one for the office and one for home; it does not disappoint in either situation.Ergonomically, a good design is a must for me. While I don't game in long sessions, I demand a relatively high level of performance when I do. 12-hour stretches at work are common though and for that purpose, this is an absolute triumph of design. Comfort is excellent, though lefties will not enjoy this mouse or I suspect even be able to use it. There is a definite boost in performance compared to traditional or 'cheap' mice, and I enjoy having my mouse not look like some work of abstract art i.e. most of the overpriced MMO-centric mice you see today from the likes of Razer et al... I have no strong feelings regarding the look, though as others have pointed out it is quite unique for what that's worth. The sensitivity controls are excellent though I find the top level to be overkill, even when working on a triple-monitor setup. It's just too fast for me, though I know some prefer to have a very small range of hand movement -- to each their own I suppose. The programmable 'menu' button is handy, though in a slightly inconvenient location. The 4th and 5th buttons along the side are absolutely brilliant and I am now wrecked from using other mice which exclude this feature as a result. They are stellar for browsing the web and using web-based applications at work as I do. These buttons are also very nice in games but I find that surprisingly many games--even modern ones--do not have very good support for mapping these buttons. Not a fault of this product but still worth noting.I wholeheartedly endorse this mouse and it has set the bar for my expectations in this arena going forward.

Awesome mouse
EDIT: 2016. So it's 8 years since I bought this mouse and I'm still using it. I have no idea how it still works given how much it's been used but it's definitely reliable.Pros:-Looks awesome, really like the dented/steel whatever it is design-Perfect shape for me, at first i thought it would be too big, but its the perfect size.(Ignore the guy who says this mouse is tiny, i have long fingers and its plenty big enough)-Extremely smooth movement across my standard mouse mat, so much better than my old RX650 for gaming.-Customisable buttons and sensitivity.Cons: (Minor niggles, this mouse is fantastic overall)-The software on the CD is a bugger, won't let you customise any settings. Don't bother with it, download SetPoint from the Logitech site, it's the latest version.-Mouse scroll wheel movement isn't very smooth, really I'm just being picky here.Overall great, well worth the money, can't complain at all. Tried it on Call of Duty 4, now I'm getting more headshots per kill, it has definitely improve my precision when aiming. I'm not gonna lie and say this mouse has turned me into a pro gamer, but its helped.

Good mouse but beware the shiny sticky finish
My favourite mouse is a Logitech G5 mouse that I have owned for several years. I love the shape of the G5 and since the MX518 has an almost identical shape I thought I would buy one for use at work to replace my Dell optical mouse. I was not worried about the lack of configurable weight balance or selectable DPI settings etc. since the mouse would not be used for gaming. Unfortunately, it turned out the MX518 was not to my liking and had to go back.Good points:* The shape (I am right handed)* Button placement and action* Scroll wheel action is good and wheel click is fine* No problems with tracking on my favourite func archetype mouse pad.Problems:* The main problem is the finish of the mouse body which is in a shiny plastic. I found my hand sticking to it even when not sweaty. This was so annoying that I found the mouse impossible to use.* Did not seem to like my ancient Dell laptop (although it worked with everything else)Based on the sticky mouse body problem and instability with my old Dell I swapped the MX518 for a G400 which I like a lot better.
