Compact reader, a bit slow
The reader works fine. However, it it s HID device and is a bit slow. If you try to read cards that repeatedly send date, the keyboard buffer overflows and it begins losing characters. The case is a bit flimsy, do not subject USB connector to abuse, it might break off the board. The coil is rather small, you need to find a position where it can communicate with the card, but in return you get a very compact form factor.

Works, but not what I expected.
Maybe my expectations were skewed, but I expected more. Or maybe my knowledge concerning readers like this is off, I'm really not sure to be honest.I remember a "investigative" TV show I watched that was going around a mall or something and supposedly using a similar reader and getting all sorts of information from just walking up behind people. Cardholders name, account number, expiration date, etc. etc. I remember being mentioned by the reporter. Of course it was all blurred out, but that's what I remember being mentioned that these nefarious people and their "readers" could get from you without you ever knowing.THAT is what I thought this was. This reader DID work, but the only "reading" I got was a 10 digit number that WAS NOT the account number or any other identifying information that I could tell. I did try several cards, and each one gave a different 10 digit number, so it was reading something. WHAT it was reading is the question. Again, I tried multiple cards and the result was the same each time, so if this was multi frequency multi protocol etc. etc. I would've figured it would've given a lot more information. But again, it may be my ignorance on what this is actually supposed to do and the information that it's supposed to read and report. Maybe I need to do something with that 10 digit code, but that's not mentioned in the website/ad and NO instructions or documentation of any sort was included with the device.I WAS able to confirm that several RFID blocking wallets, purses, wristlets, and things like that were truly RFID blocking as no numbers showed up while the card was inside any of the aforementioned items. If that's the only use I get out of this item I'm good with that as I ordered this as more of a curiosity thing. I wanted to see if my RFID blocking items were really working or not. If it showed me WHAT could actually be being read that would've been interesting, but it's not like I was going to go to the mall or wherever and start reading people's cards/information.So, based on everything I've seen and reported, I feel I have to give it at least 3 stars because it does exactly what it says it would do. Just because I can't confirm if it's supposed to be doing more I don't feel is a justification of giving a poor rating. Until I can verify, or not, that it's supposed to be reading/doing more, I'll keep my review neutral. If I do get more information I'll update my review accordingly. At this time I'll reserve judgement on whether I should or would give this a positive or negative recommendation and simply state that as far as I can tell and based on what I've read on the ad/website, it does work.
