Works as Advertised
Like a lot of these adapters these DO NOT have the Network Port on them (they put a sticker over where it should be and there is nothing below the sticker). It works well for adding a SATA Harddrive to the PS2 however, a lot of people seem to have mixed results with these, but for me it worked. I threw a cheap Kingston 240GB SATA SSD (overkill because you're limited to UDMA133 by the PS2) behind it and runs like a champ.

Connects and works as described.
Fits well and easy to install. Allows a newer SATA HDD to be installed into a Fat PS2, and allows third party programs to be booted by the console.

Works for modern ssd
It works for connecting modern ssd & hdd to the PS2. Make sure to get a bracket to help hold it in place inside the PS2.

Works fine for me, but...
I clearly received a used one and my first thought was 'oh great let's hope it even works' and it surprisingly does. Some of the metal around one of the screws have been bent slightly inward toward the screw, so securing this to the back of the PS2 is a little challenging since I have to now line it up at an odd angle. As annoying as it is to be sent a used product without your knowledge, I guess I happened to luck out compared to the other reviewers.

Should be called a "Hard Drive Adapter", but it works just fine.
The original PlayStation 2 "Network Adapter" had two uses: Connect your PS2 to a network, and connect an IDE/PATA Hard Drive to your PS2 (primarily for Final Fantasy XI that I'm aware of). This after-market one works with the more current SATA format of hard drives, but it has NO network functionality. The only reason to buy this is to connect a SATA hard drive to your PS2 and it does the job just fine for me so far with a solid state hard drive. If you're dreaming of connecting your PS2 to a network of any kind, this product is NOT for you, unless you're tech savvy/handy enough to cram the needed tech into it yourself.

Works but...
Okay, so the only reason to buy this in 2019 is to soft mod your PS2. Cause let's face it, the only reason to buy one of the original ones back when the PS2 was new was to play Final Fantasy 12 (or whatever number they were up to at the time) and to play the game online, which you can't do anymore because I'm sure the servers were dismantled years ago. But, I would recommend buying one of these (it's an "aftermarket" part) and try to find an official Sony one and buy it too. The official Sony one is the one with the functional Ethernet ports but it has an IDE connector (the old industry standard for PC hard drives). This one doesn't have Ethernet ports, but it has a SATA connector (the current industry standard for PC hard drives). Buy both and swap the SATA connector on this one with the IDE connector on the other one. Then buy a internal HDD or SSD (whichever one you fancy) that is whatever capacity you want (either in gigabytes or terabytes). Then download FreeMcBoot from the internet (you'll have to Google it), and install it using a USB thumb drive that you'll have to plug into the USB 1.0 port on the front of the PS2. Oh, and make sure you have a memory card in slot 1 when you do all of this. But don't pirate the games.
