Stunning.
If you want to improve your rating, then this book is for you, you will not be disappointed. The author puts the subject over very well, and to me; the author came across: he was writing this book, because he really wanted to help chess players.

Excellent Modern Scandinavian Training Ideas
I like this book a lot. I often cannot resist training or chess improvement books, but this one is very convinvcing as to ways to improve in all spheres of chess skill. Opening Preparation, analysing your own games, endings, attitude, tactics training. I almost want to not write a good review for this so I can keep the good ideas in the book to myself .It has ideas based on Axel Smith's experience as a trainer and improving player. Includes a lot of prose and apposite example games and positions. This is far better than The book by Hawkins.this is for more advanced players than those other classic improvement books Chess for Tigers or Tiisdall's Improve your Chess Now

One of the best training books ever
Ok, I am usually too busy to write reviews but I feel compelled to write a review about this book.I've had an ELO chess rating of between 2050-2219 for the last 20 years - never was able to reach 2300 and although I dedicated very little time to chess due to family and work obligations I felt there was no clear time-effective way of reaching that level without complete dedication to chess, I think I was a bit lost on how to take my rating to that new level. Then I got this copy of the book - it certainly no magic and does not prmise you anythig but it shows you the path and how to do it even if you do not have much time - I wish I had this book 25 years ago. I had a trainer when I was young but....The book is split into two parts1) How to think - covers pawn levers, piece exchanges and calculation...amazing stuff, he explains so clearly these concepts, I cannot believe after all these years playing chess I am discovering new things, things I did not even know they existed2)Training program - this is THE way to improve - tells you everything you need to take your chess to the next level (including all the small details like getting good sleep and waking up at least two hours before the game)It explains how to analyse your games, how to resolve problems to improve tactics , prepare openings, what endgames you need to study and your attitude.Time will tell whether this book will succeed in taking my chess to a new level but at least I know what I need to do to get there and I already feel I am a better player after reading itI think this book will benefit mainly players with an Elo > 1800, I highly recommend this book for young aspiring players
