In this prequel to the bestselling phenomenon They Both Die at the End , two new strangers spend a life-changing day together after Death-Cast first makes their fateful calls. #1 New York Times bestseller! It’s the night before Death-Cast goes live, and there’s one question on everyone’s mind: Can Death-Cast actually predict when someone will die, or is it just an elaborate hoax? Orion Pagan has waited years for someone to tell him that he’s going to die. He has a serious heart condition, and he signed up for Death-Cast so he could know what’s coming. Valentino Prince is restarting his life in New York. He has a long and promising future ahead and he only registered for Death-Cast after his twin sister nearly died in a car accident. Orion and Valentino cross paths in Times Square and immediately feel a deep connection. But when the first round of End Day calls goes out, their lives are changed forever—one of them receives a call, and the other doesn’t. Though neither boy is certain how the day will end, they know they want to spend it together…even if that means their goodbye will be heartbreaking. Told with acclaimed author Adam Silvera’s signature bittersweet touch, this story celebrates the lasting impact that people have on each other and proves that life is always worth living to the fullest. * A Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year * Review: such a cute quick read! - So this story begins with our two main characters Valentino & Orion and I honest to god love them so much! This story is set on the night before the launch of Death-Cast. Valentino just moved to the city as an aspiring model who then decides to go to the launch party in times square for the launching of Death-Cast where he meets Orion. Orion has lived in NYC for all of his life he was nervous for death casts launch due to the fact that death has touched his life in a very tragic way (I’m not gonna say what bc no spoilers!) They both meet each other at the launching and it was so cute! ugh the way he writes these characters is amazing and i have love for all of his characters in this series! Death cast goes live and one of them gets a call and ofc they decide to spend the next 24hrs together as usual! Nobody knows if Death-Cast is correct or even how they know who will die its still a mystery of how they know that and I kinda dig it even though its driving me nuts lol i don’t wanna get too much into it bc i can keep going lol but throughout the book we get different POVS besides Valentino & Orion, which if you read the first one then you know, and I absolutely go feral for how almost every ch is woven together its mind boggling and very well down! The way they are woven together reminds me that we have a tony connection that we probably may never understand or realize and thats the beauty of this book. Now to the characters, the love is kind of insta lovey but with the timeframe they had it was to be expected so Im not even mad their banter with each other was great just everything about this book was great! i obsessed with these books! Also what I loved was there was some connections to the first book and I WENT FERAL. I was so excited and happy to see the connections (like i said not gonna spoil it) and I teared up bc the first one was just so good! The first one was/is still my absolute favorite though! I cant wait for the next one! If you haven’t given this series a shot definitely do it! It’s a great fun read i finished the first one in 2 1/2 days and I finished the second in 2 days lol def quick reads! Review: Great book by beloved author - After the book was finished, in his acknowledgment, Adam Silvera wrote: "This book tried to end me"... I understand perfectly what must have been happening in his heart, what emotions raged in him every day, every hour, every minute when he was working on his new novel, if, after passing through the filters of words and consciousness, a storm of emotions flares up in your heart. This is a wonderful book. The plot unwinds like a spring. The feelings and actions of the characters are often unexpected and convincing, events are predictable, and at the same time unpredictable. Also, I would define this book for myself as a New York novel. But that doesn't mean the book is written just for New Yorkers. Readers who know New York will find an extra "dimension" in this book. And not only because the action takes place in New York and the descriptions of the various parts of this city are incredibly "live", voluminous, and filled with accurate, vivid, memorable details. It's like a high-definition picture of NYC. Each chapter of the novel, each of its episodes, is like the windows of a New York high-rise building glowing in the evening. At first, it seems that all these windows are similar to each other. They all seem to "glow with the same light". But in fact, every window has its own life, not like the others. Behind each window, there are different destinies, different hopes, different joys, and sorrows. However, in some strange and mysterious way, these destinies are intertwined, imperceptibly connected. And it becomes gradually clearer and clearer that we, people, are connected - without even realizing it - with each other by hundreds of threads. This book is a hymn to love, which is stronger than death. Despite the tragedy of events, the optimism and beauty of this book are that people can rise above circumstances and, in the end, be unbroken and happy in the highest sense of this word. It is another great book written by a beloved author. I highly recommend reading it and reflecting on the many implications of its deep and vibrant story.

Very good, just not as good as the first one.
If you liked the first book more for its emotions and message instead of the plot setting, then this book will probably not be as good for you. It was a good book, it just didn’t have the same resonance as the first one. It still had a good message, but it was much more about plot. It was really pushing the idea of another book as well. The first one seems like it wasn’t going to have a sequel, so I feel like they weren’t set up the same to have a completely closed ending. But, not comparing it to the first one, it is a great book and I will be buying the third one when it’s published.

I loved this book so much!!
This book made me cry, and it's the first book to do so (excluding the first book in this series). It came in wonderful condition and it's such a sad and beautiful story. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in romance books, or specifically lgbtq romance!

Great read
I thought this would be about Mateo and Rufus growing up, it is not. It is about when Death Cast first launched, which I found interesting. This book has two male protagonists, and their story is a bit like Mateo's and Rufus's. It's one of their end days, and they are living it to the fullest. I would recommend it- not to find out more about Rufus and Mateo (they made an appearance or two as children)- to read a cute romance story about two young adults.

a great love story
This was totally out of the norm for me. The love story was great, the story was fast moving and just enough futuristic. A quick read, would be great in a holiday, I’m looking forward to the second story.
