OK for the price, but could use improvement in several areas
Overall, this microscope offers good value for money, but there are several areas where it needs to be improved. My use case was photographing an old microfiche which requires really precise focusing.Pluses:Supposedly this uses a Sony sensor at 52mega-pixels. At the time of writing this, that number is the highest I've seen for a 'cheap' Amazon microscope and the overall picture quality is good, except for noise which I discuss in the minuses section. The built-in battery is a nice feature in case you feel compelled to use this device away from a power source. The base-plate is a solid hunk of aluminum. All the cables you need are included.Minuses:When zoomed in, the edges of an image have a lot of noise and tend to 'dance' - not sure if this is from the sensor itself, internal noise being picked up or poor gain control. Whichever, it was a pain to deal with for my project and required extra effort in Lightroom and Photoshop to fix.The menus are annoying to navigate - there are lots of options which really require 4 arrow keys / OK / back. Instead we get 2 arrow keys and OK. That's it for both the front of the unit and the remote. Sure, it works, but it's just painful to use. Many settings in the menu are persistent if you turn the unit off, but a few are not (Automatic Exposure for example) and have to be set each time. The biggest pain is the focus control. You use the clunky ratchet system that supports the microscope unit for coarse focus / zoom and the focus ring on the camera unit for fine focus. The fine adjustment is way too sensitive and unsurprisingly has a ton of backlash. This makes accurate focusing challenging and is an area that could really be improved. Ideally, I'd like to see an Auto-focus or electronically assisted focus option and is something I'd be willing to pay for.

very shaky, does not magnify 2000 times
it's very shaky, almost impossible to get a good picture of whatever you are researching, and magnification is definitely not 2000 times - they are playing with numbers. For example, a 200x objective lens and a 10x eyepiece provide a total magnification of 2000x. However, it is not only magnification, but also resolution that indicates the performance capability of an optical microscope - and in this case this is a digital microscope. So true magnification can't be more than 800x. Amazon is full of these false advertisers, and no one is doing anything about it.

Amazingly capable
Performed better than expected. Amazing clarity. Don't hesitate to purchase.Fabulous menu to adjust photo settings. Even with 8x magnification the images remain crisp.File sizes for each image are in the 50 meg range, testifying to the advertised resolution. (Can easily reduce file size web when downloading to a pc/iPad/Mac.One tip. if you have an object with a multilayered surface, bring the camera to its full height and use the zoom. It eliminates depth of field issues when the camera is close to the object.I admire companies that work hard to produce quality products at a good price. This is one of them.

This product it’s a complete mess
Guys, Don’t buy this garbage, don’t through your money away! It’s not worthy to waste your money in this garbage. It doesn’t even deserve a star.

Does its job
I've got a dog that is going through some kind of skin issue that we've yet to identify. When I rang the vet, they told me they'd need to do a scrape and look at it under the microscope to get a better idea of what we're looking at. They quoted over $400 for that service, so I thought "I wonder if I can get a microscope and do it myself for less?" Well happy days for me since this one popped up for me through the Vine program, but had it not, I'd still have ordered it for the price.I like that this microscope has a screen to watch rather than having to squint through eye pieces. The video and photo capture feature was gold for my use! I did a scrape and prepared it on a makeshift slide. Once I had it on the microscope, I started the video very zoomed out, then progressively got closer and zoomed in before maxing out the capability of the unit. I have no way of confirming that it's actually zooming in 2000x, but it feels like it! I can get incredibly close, to the point where a single hair looks like a giant hollow tube. I then sent this video plus some other still shots from the microscope to my vet. This was what the vet needed to see to determine that it's a digestive issue manifesting as a skin problem, rather than something like mites or mange. Now, I have a sweet microscope for other things and saved myself $400 at the vet!The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the whole unit feels like a mid-quality microscope. Plastic and lightweight aluminum don't give it much heft, and the adjustment system is crude and sloppy, but overall, it does work well.

Not for soldering
The lens is too close to the table for soldering. To solder get a scope with interchangeable lenses. This is not mentioned in the description.
