The George Harrison Vinyl Collection box set features all of George Harrison’s solo studio albums in one collection for the first time to commemorate the musician’s birthday. The vinyl box set includes all twelve of George’s studio albums with exact replicas of the original release track listing and artwork. Also included in the box set are George’s classic live album Live In Japan (2LP), and two 12” single picture discs of “When We Was Fab” and “Got My Mind Set On You.” All the discs are 180-gram heavyweight vinyl and are housed in a high-quality two-piece rigid slipcase box. The original analogue master tapes were used for the new re-masters and were cut at the legendary Capitol studios to ensure exceptional audio quality throughout. George Harrison – The Vinyl Collection box set contents: Wonderwall Music (1968) | 1 LP Electronic Sound (1969) | 1 LP All Things Must Pass (1970) | 3 LP Living In The Material World (1973) | 1 LP Dark Horse (1974) | 1 LP Extra Texture (1975) | 1 LP Thirty Three & 1/3 (1976) | 1LP George Harrison (1979) | 1 LP Somewhere in England (1981) | 1 LP Gone Troppo (1982) | 1 LP Cloud Nine (1987) | 1 LP Live In Japan (1992) | 2 LP Brainwashed (2002) | 1 LP Bonus 12” Picture Disc Singles of “When We Was Fab” and “Got My Mind Set On You” Review: A thing of beauty - For me, the whole point of buying an expensive box set is to have a thing of beauty which, with good attention, should last a lifetime. This is one such box. The love for the artist and the respect for his music shines through. The box itself is quite stunning. The sleeves/inner sleeves are top notch and the records themselves come in poly-lined inners. The vinyl is beautifully pressed; it’s flat and clean. Virtually no surface dust needed to be removed prior to playing. And so to the sound. Faultless, no crackles or pops. I only had ATMP, Cloud 9 & Brainwashed before buying this set so there has been plenty of ‘new’ music for me to discover and I haven’t had the chance to immerse myself with multiple plays as yet. There are a few dud tracks here and there but that goes for anyone with a 10+ album back catalogue. Wonderwall was a pleasant surprise and very enjoyable. The 2 picture discs were a nice bonus. A book, in a similar vein as the one in the Queen LP box set would have been marvellous. But it would seem churlish to deduct a star for this omission. The set is superb. Review: A Beautifully Compiled And Produced Vinyl Box Set. - As a long time George fan (a member of his fan club in the late 70's) who bought most of these LPs first time around, this is an absolutely gorgeous and beautifully assembled collection. While not particularly being a fan of digital remasters cut to vinyl, the clarity and quality of the cuts are superb. Background is super-quiet. Comparing All Things Must Pass here to my mint 1st pressing from 1970 is revelatory - lifting the veil on the Spector production to hear distinct instruments within the Wall Of Sound. Brainwashed has a depth that is missing from CD and is all the more coherent for it. However, the most striking feature here is how George's personality benefits from being collected together in one package - positively seeping from the box in abundance. A beautiful package - well done Dhani!

Fantastic box set.
Absolutely stunning. Really heavy duty box set. Amazing detail in the reproductions of the sleeves and inserts. George has never sounded better, and I do feel that a lot of his albums have come in for some unfair criticism down the years. "Gone Troppo" for instance is always slated.....but I think it's a great little album. I was lucky and got it a few weeks ago from Amazon for 205 pounds....the price at the moment is 350....and that would make me think twice. But hey...you can't take it with you so if you can afford it and you love George get it!

Wow !
A beautifully box set with such great attention to detail. All the LP's are individually sealed (similar to the Beatles box sets) and are heavy180g pressings which are housed in poly lined sleeves alongside the original inner sleeves which are included but not used. All relevant posters and books are included. The sound quality from a random sample is superb also. The exclusive picture discs are housed in their own box inside. A very nice item and very pleased to own this. Highly recommended. The packaging from Amazon was also of a very high order minimising the risk of damaging this very heavy box set.

Wow, great quality
What can I say a premium product that lives up to its claim of quality, from the packing all the way through to the way the vinyl is made. If you are a fan, then this is a must.

Like many -all
Like many -all? - of these very large, career-spanning vinyl sets, your view is almost certainly determined by where you approach them from. Me? The only Harrison I had prior to this (excluding his work as a member of the Beatles) was the cd reissue of All Things Must Pass from a few years ago. Which begs the question why someone who didn't seem that bothered with George's solo work would fork out such a big chunk of money on this?* Well, quite simply, it was the opportunity to explore his post-Beatles work, and at the same time revisit the glory days of vinyl. If I'm honest, I'm a sucker for this type of product; original albums, presented in a way that's faithful to the originals, collected together in one place. To those ends, it is more-or-less comprehensive (a few b-sides etc are missing, it seems, and the Bangladesh live concert isn't here, but that is 'various artists', not strictly GH). What is here seems very good. I've only listened to 4 of the albums so far, and apart from a small non-fill issue on one track, the records are to the standard we've come to expect from Optimal in Germany (the Beatles and Queen sets being my experience of them). The covers and inner sleeves are also very good. I don't have originals to compare against (which seems a mercy, given the anguish some others go through due to very minor differences). Downsides? The two picture disc singles should have been replaced with some form of book (like the Beatles/Queen sets). The obvious inclusion would have been a pared down version of the 'I, Me , Mine' book, but as that has just been republished, that was never going to happen. So 4 stars; it would have been five had they included a book rather than the two singles (which, although I haven't listened to them yet, add nothing to the value of this item in my opiniom). So, returning to my original point, if you want to approach this as someone who wants George's album collection on vinyl, on high quality pressings (and the records sound fine to me, on a Gyrodec/SME turntable via Harbeth speakers), with excellent reproductions of the sleeves (at least that's how they look to me), then buy with confidence. If, on the other hand, you already own these records - perhaps on original pressings - then this is probably not for you (it's a lot of money to throw at something you already own......). *I bought my set from Amazon Italy. This means that this review will probably not identify me as a 'verified purchase(r)'. The reason I went with the Italian site was because, as of Friday evening, there was a difference of over £110 between Italy and Amazon UK. So I ordered around 5.30 Friday evening, and it arrived 4.00 Saturday. The difference is now down to about £50.

Great Product..."now"!
Great Box set, finally someone did correctly. Now what about a proper Brainwashed Lp. Harrison said he wanted to make an on the spot album, without overdubs or enhanced effects. Yet after his passing Jeff Lynn went against Harrison's wishes & "behold" overdubs & added musicians. Harrison's son did add some guitar work, which was fitting. But Mr.ELO just couldn't keeps his over production mitts off. Brings a new meaning to "what are friends for".

The set is great. Quality pressing and packing. A book would have been nice, but it is about the music.

Wherever he may be, surely George must be proud of this box set. It starts with the packaging. A fantasticm eye-catching holographic photograph that shows George in two distinct stages of his life. The box itself is sturdy and the LPs are housed in individual cellophane resealable bags. No more separation between "Apple" and "Dark Horse" - except for the 2 "Greatest Hits" and "Early Takes" albums, it's all here. Including the extraordinary "Live in Japan" in two LPs. The inclusion of two picture disc EPs makes one quickly forget what's missing, particularly if you already have those albums outside the box. The records sound great in general, haven't yet found anything to disturb my listening. It's a pleasure, after all these years, to listen to GH in brand new vinyl again. Good job of producers, designers and engineers. Well done! Fernando
