Large & Heavy Solid Brass Hand Bell School Bell Call Service Bell with Wood Handle 11"(H) 5"(D)

I am very happy with this bell so far. This is not a cheap steel bell that has been gold plated to look brass. It is a good solid brass bell that is fairly heavy compared to others I have seen.The good:Tone - Being brass it "rings" and for a good long time, it doesn't "clank".Looks - This thing just plain looks good. It is nice enough to use as home decor or in my case annoy the other people in my section at the hockey games!! :)The bad (and I am being picky here):The clapper was detached when I received the bell. It is attached to the rod that attaches the handle to the bell via a hole in the rod and a rather thin s-hook. I do not believe these parts will last over years of use (my opinion, TBD).The handle started to feel loose after just a few test swings. I do not know if it was because of the wood handle shrinking/drying, the bell assembly not being fully tightened at assembly, or working loose during use. In any case a drop or 2 of LockTite will fix the issue.EDIT 12/20/2021:After about a year of rather hard use (covid shut games down for a while), The tone went to hell, I found a crack that went about 50% around the bell inside the lower decorative cut. Did I get 1 years worth of ringing out of it, Yes. But looking elsewhere for its replacement. BTW, I did ring it VERY hard when we scored!!

I bought this for my mom- her last day of radiation is on Monday and due to COVID-19 she will be ringing the cancer bell at the hospital alone. It’s a surprise, but I’m going give her the bell to ring for all of us over FaceTime. I think she’s going to love it.The bell is very sturdy and I would recommend it- I tried it first to make sure it works, and it does!

It comes loose and falls apart after use

This really came in handy for my seasonal Red Kettle bell ringing and was far superior to the small ding-a-ling bells provided by Salvation Army. The only concern I have so far is slight discoloration that seems to be occurring only a few weeks after arrival. But it certainly produced the tone and volume I was looking for.

Never in a trillion years could I imagine the size of this bell would be so humongous. It's exactly what I was looking for a gift for a young lady who's going to be teaching high school kids. Sincere thanks ...!

This item is EXACTLY what you would expect.Beautiful is form and delightful in sound and tone. WOW!I bought this because my mom's bell was lost or stolen at a retreat I went on.It was a bell that looked just like this and was used in a one-room school house in Kansas in the 1930's.Her sister was the teacher for all grades.Thanks for this!

This "Large and Heavy" brass bell is neither large nor heavy, causing me to doubt that is even made of brass. It is a piece of crap that Amazon should be embarrassed was even sold on their website. It has mold on the wooden handle, is discolored and nowhere near as was advertised. This product is the winner in the "Fastest item to ever be returned to Amazon" category.
