Card works good, but don't expect full file transfer speed with it being PCIe x1. If you're having issues with the hot swap, you need to update your drivers, then it works like a champ. In Device Manager, if this is showing as a Standard SATA AHCI Controller you need to update the driver and it will show as a Asmedia 106x SATA Controller. Where to get the driver? Directly from Microsoft' Update Catalog website. It will say ASUSTeK Computer Inc, but the driver is from Asmedia Technology.

What more is there to say? If you need more SATA ports than your motherboard provides, this gets the job done. I have 3 of them in machines in my Chia farm. Hard drives of all sizes and types from multiple manufacturers are detected without issue, thanks to clean implementation of the standard SATA and AHCI protocols. It doesn't have a boot ROM so booting from it may not go well (I haven't tried), but it's a perfect solution for adding lots of storage. It should also be trouble-free if you want to use it for an OS-driven software RAID array or drive group.

No, you won't get full speed if you use all the ports... but that's not the point.

I needed some more sata ports for my home server and this thing fit the bill great. Was a quick install with no issues.

Drives would show up in bios and proxmox, but did not work in TrueNAS when passed through. It would see the card but not the drives. I replaced it with an LSI Hba that had no issues being detected when passed through. I spent ALOT of time trying to get it to work, it seems others had similar issues and were able to change the firmware to get it working. However you need a windows machine to flash it.

I've had this working for some time now. I have a bunch of SSD's connected to it. It feels the same as if it's connected to my motherboard. I don't even notice it's there. No boot delay, no errors, just works and everything is operating smoothly. Windows see everything the same. No problems at all. Just install it and connect the drives and it's all ready to go. It has some blue LEDs on it so if you have window case there will be some extra blue light coming from inside your case. And they blink with activity.

I have used a 5 port pci-e 1x for several years with no issues on a simple bare metal Ubuntu Server. Then about 2 years ago moved to proxmox & around the same time, I upgraded to an 8 port pci-e 1x which is fast, flawless, and never has any issues even running 6 drives in a raid for a Zoneminder VM with full passthrough. Needing to expand my Proxmox storage for other projects, I purchased this 16 port card a little under a month ago. I have had nothing but issues. Upon boot, all drives show I'm the bios just fine & all Temps seem to be in check. When I first boot into proxmox all drives are still present, but within about 20 minutes or so this card freaks out once I start using the various disks and disconnects everything connected to it. I get a huge amount of Errors from all the VM's and proxmox shows that various storages (from the different disks) all have dropped out. This home server has always been rock-solid, but this card has forced me to hard-reboot proxmox several times until I figured out what the issue was. As a Hail Mary, I dropped a heavy duty Noctua fan running @ 3000 rpm pointed directly @ the card, but still have drives dropping within a few minutes after boot. I have set up an RMA here on Amazon and am waiting on the replacement card to show up, but in the meantime I had to drop my 8 port card back in. It's very strange because I have had amazing luck with my other 2 sata expansion cards over the years never having any stability or driver issues, it's almost shocking that I have encountered one that has issues. I will update this review when the replacement arrives.🤞

Really nice looking product and well built worked right out of the box with no hardware configuration. My PCs bios immediately recognized it as a PCI SATA controller and booted up no problems without even using the motherboards main SATA ports first. Also like the blue indicator LEDs for each SATA channel so I Know which HDD is active and working properly.

Card does not allow windows 10 to boot if any drives are attached. Not fit for use, waste of money especially for the price.

Wer auf RAID Funktionalität verzichten kann/möchte, hat hier eine einfache Möglichkeit, 6 weitere SATA Ports zur Verfügung zu haben. Ich konnte keinen Performance Unterschied zum direkten Anschluss am Mainboard feststellen. Die Karte bleibt auch unter Last kühl.

I installed in the PCIEX16(G5) of an ASUS Prime Z890-P motherboard to run an SATA DVD drive. It installed perfectly, was recognized by Windows 11 at switch on. Beware that DVD drives are not listed under "This PC" until a DVD is loaded in the drive! All the internet solutions has failed with me. You must allocate it the device letter "D", if wanted, by using the "Computer Management" function.

Die Karte macht was sie soll, aber verzögert den Start und das Herunterfahren enorm. Ich habe sie in einem TrueNAS verbaut und ZFS meldet für jede Platte beim Booten einen Fehler und gibt pro Platte auch drei Versuche. Das zieht sich bei 8 Laufwerken ganz schön in die Länge. Ich bin kein Linux Profi und kann die Fehlermeldung nicht wirklich beurteilen. Bei anderen Karten habe ich das Problem aber nicht.
