Dunlop DVP3 Volume (X) Pedal

This is a well built, very versatile and functional pedal. But I'm docking a star because the pedal tensioner BLOWS. I bought two of these and sent one back because I honestly thought it was defective. The manual says to turn the tensioner screw clockwise to increase the tension. I did this to the point where the tension screw bottoms out (stops) with both pedals. One increased the tension slightly, the other one the pedal was just floppy and wouldn't stay in heel down position (that one got sent back). The replacement was the same, so I figured it must be me doing something wrong and I contacted Dunlop. It turns out this is a common issue and that if you remove the bottom of the pedal and adjust the 2mm Allen screws on each side of the rocker post, you can increase the tension. The manual of course says nothing about this and there is nothing online either. Be warned that these screws will already be bottomed out so you have to crank the hell out of them. Be careful not to strip the hex head. IMHO Not the best design. This could easily be much better.

I've had this on my gigging board for over a year and I'm really pleased with it. This replaced my EB VP jr which broke a string during a gig and in general I much prefer the DVP3. Sound-wise I don't notice any difference in the swell rate but what I really like is the ability to adjust feel of the pedal and the added durability of not having a string. The rubber "tread" started slipping off the treadle so I pulled it off and replaced it with grip tape. Maybe it doesn't look as cool but it's better than having a piece of rubber flapping around. The only other thing I've noticed is that it started to squeak so I put a few drops of Tri-Flow around the center support of the hinge and it has been silent since. After 10+ years with various EB volume pedals I'm not going back!

I tried a Morley WAH/Volume pedal before this one and did not like it. This pedal offers a very smooth action and a lot of travel which the Morley pedal did not have. It is a passive pedal but I have not noticed any tone loss. Also, the tension/resistance of the pedal can be adjusted. The pedal seems to be very solid and well-built and seems like it could take a beating. It's on the heavy side which I think is a good thing so it won't be sliding around. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this pedal and will buy again.

Seems to do what it need to do. I feel like I want to tighten up the tension a bit as its really almost too easy to make a change with your foot. I've only used it for one show so far but I'm sure it will perform as expected.

I really like the adjustment for tension feature on this pedal. It is constructed well, has some weight to it and doesn't feel 'cheap' at all. I would definetely get another one if I needed another pedal.

This pedal is awesome. I still have not used the EXP output control, I have a triple flashback TC Electronics so I'm planning on checking it out but overal a great volumne pedal, no power required, just plug in and go! it also its pedal-down resistance is adjustable which is one of my fav features along with a tuner outout, big props.

excellent pedal, I buy it to use as expression pedal for line6m5, and works perfectly for wah, whammy, volume, and other crazy effectsyou can set the minimum level of each parameter and tension; It is very comfortable, of rugged construction and pedalboard friendly,and I could get it for 80 dollars...........for me is the perfect expression pedal !!!!

I like this pedal. I did have it cut out on me once. I like the possibility of using as an expression pedal. That is why I bought it over the silver one. It is nice and big. It is better than the EB jr. that douchebag ambient players use. Be a man and buy this.

Ich habe mich sehr auf dieses Volume Pedal gefreut, und auch die Verarbeitung, Maße und Optik sind super als ich es denn in Händen hielt. Das Poti lief bei Swells sehr linear im Vergleich zu meinem alten Boss Pedal. Außerdem ist es von den Maßen sehr pedalboardfreundlich.Nun aber das Problem: Ich habe nun das dritte zurückgeschickt, weil alle von Werk an defekt waren. Bei durchgedrücktem Pedal, gab es an einem Punkt ein Knacken und dann keinen Ton mehr. Ich vermute einen Kurzschluss im Poti.Und bei allen drei Pedalen trat dieses Problem schon nach Stunden ausprobieren oder von Anfang an auf.Auf einen vierten Münzwurf habe ich keine Lust mehr und werde wohl zu Ernie Ball wechseln und da mein Glück versuchen.Ich hätte nicht gedacht, dass mich die Suche nach einem Volume Pedal am Ende länger in Anspruch nimmt als die meiner ganzen Zerrsektion.Es sah so gut aus, aber Dunlop hat sich das ganze dank mangelnder Qualität verdorben...

Ich spiele mehrmals die Woche und hab das Volume Pedal innerhalb meiner Signalkette auf meinem Pedalboard verbaut.Gitarre -> Junction Box -> Comp -> Boost -> Drive -> Volume Pedal -> Delay -> Reverb -> Junction Box -> AmpDas Dunlop hat einen sehr angenehmen Pedalweg und lässt sich wunderbar für Swells einsetzen. Auch vom Übergang her hat es mir gut gefallen, der für mein Empfinden ziemlich linear verläuft. Also nicht zu abrupt, sondern wirklich ein weicher Fade-In.Die Maße sind sehr Pedalboard-freundlich und die dunkle Farbe lassen es unauffällig neben dem Rest der bunten Treter erscheinen. So viel zum optischen Eindruck.Jetzt zum GROSSEN ABER:Innerhalb von 6 Wochen habe ich bereits 4 Exemplare von diesem guten Stück hier zurückschicken müssen.Das erste ist bereits defekt angekommen. Es ist immer wieder (vom max. Winkelstellung) zurück geklappt. Auch mit verstellen an der Tork-Schraube nix zu machen.Das zweite Exemplar hatte dieses Problem nicht, jedoch ist das Pedal im voll angewinkelten Zustand immer minimial zurück geklappt, so dass Signal übertragen wurde, wenn ich nicht mit meinem Fuß drauf stand.Das dritte lief 4 Wochen gefühlt einwandfrei, dann kam plötzlich gar kein Signal mehr durch, unabhängig von Pedalstellung. Das Benutzen des TuneOut nahm außerdem auch negativen Einfluss auf den Klang.Das vierte und damit auch letztes Exemplar hatte wieder das Problem mit dem leichten zurück wippen des Pedals bei max. Winkelstellung.Ein Montagsgerät kann man ja noch verkraften und ich hätte mir gewünscht, dass es hält, weil es an sich seinen Job gut erledigt, aber 4 sind dann doch ne Nummer zu viel.Als nächstes wird das Mission Engineering VP-Pro ausprobiert, da ich mir billig kaufen nicht länger leisten kann.(Und ich dachte, dass Dunlop wäre schon "teuer").

Sauber verarbeitet, stabil konstruiert und durch die Expression-Funktion vielseitig einsetzbar. Und das Wichtigste: Kein Höhenverlust. Die perligen Akkorde bei meiner Tele kommen immer noch sauber durch. Schafft die Konkurrenz nicht.
